I agree , long term forecasts are a guess based on historic trends ,a bit of science , and too much pessemism  |

The weather models from all international weather services are pointing to at least 4 weeks or bitter weather for western Europe beginning next week and have been right every year lately,they were spot on for the predictions for record snow for Austria Switzerland and,Eastern Europe.
-11 in London is one set of silly predictions ive seen .Discounting the Daily Express comic.
Simple answer is dont take notice if you dont believe it,dont complain if you get caught out.

Anyone else got any info on this coming winter?I was referred to an article written by an environmental scientist who does oceanic studies and weather patterns.Also backed up by info in the article that the army is being put on standby,advice to stock up on stores etc for a predicted very strong possibility for a 3 month snowed in period for West England and Wales.All links have now been taken down,gone.To avoid panic,or fake news?The met office blog has even taken pains to issue a statement saying any long prediction is impossible.I always ensure there is 6 weeks in at least in as we are very rural,but that long will collapse the weak UK infrastructure.

Hmmmm, makes me wonder if they’ve spotted an abnormality with the Gulf Stream, that would affect our climate big time ? |

Yes gulf stream drift,as it does at times, was mentioned pete.Not stopping as it may with desalination. It relies on salinity and if over diluted with fresh water it could weaken and stop.If that stops we will freeze.When did the Thames freeze over?
