My ex ma in law used to like a nice cheeseboard for xmas, but the sell by date was usually the day after boxing day! As she was funny about dates we all had to stuff ourselves with cheese on Xmas day!😋

As kids, the tin of quality street ( and that’s a proper large tin, not the little plastic thing with a concave bottom to give you even less sweets ) was not allowed to be opened until Christmas Day in the evening, and even then we were only allowed to chose two sweets.lol

My sister got a tin of them one year & put it in the lounge saying "help yourselves" I got watching a film after lunch & sat near the tin putting the empty wrappers back in the tin as I ate them. Long story short, before the film finished the lot had gone! Then I wonder why I'm diabetic.....😕

Bought some mince pies yesterday. Just checked the scoff by date 7/11/19. Not sure what I would have thought if it read 2020 or longer. I suppose id have to assume it was totally inorganic -made from recycled tyres

It's a perfect example of sell by dates being meaningless...

[ Thats not true, but I dont let it stand in the way of a snicker ]

But I can make it up -
make my own ..and discribe in painful out of this world detail the succulent and exisite taste...
