I think I read that the uk battery factory site has been bought by somebody with the intention of making batteries for home energy storage. It was bought by an Australian company -Recharge Industries- which is owned by a US investment company. ... but yes for home storage systems. The government loves to pour millions of pounds into companies with no track record... It just looked from the start like a scam to me,robbing the taxpayer to enrich themselves and friends, like most of the Covid companies, the Conservfascists seem to be masters at it .but what do I know.

You cant and manufacturing here relies on imports of raw materials or components. There simply won't be a manufacturing sector here soon because it wont be sustainable or viable to import materials or components and absorb tarrif costs...all this was spelled out long ago and was ignored and is ignored by politicians who have sabotaged this country...theyre all treasonous traitors...they should be in prison. I agree with what you are saying, but Weardale sits on top of a granite, providing minerals in solution. Lithium has been discovered there recently and will be mined for batteries, I think the batteries themselves will also be manufactured there. They are mining lithium in Cornwall too

That was the whole purpose of the mega battery plant that never got built,so theyd be built here, All the mega battery plants are in Europe. Nobody is going to build battery plants or start mining if their main customers Ford Vauxhall JLR Nissan etc are highly likely to move to Europe anyway to avoid border tarrifs that are directly as a result of Brexit. The EU sells a lot more cars into the UK than we sell into EU so tariffs work both ways We should be mindful of the damage that tarriff free trade has caused to British industries like coal and steel as well as manufacturing in the past decades

EU car manufacturers have already adapted to the potential loss of a UK market and have 27 countries they can trade with tarrif free which will probably increase when Ukraine is accepted into the EU. The British coal and steel industry was deliberately destroyed by the Thatcher government for political reasons, they chose deliberately to buy cheap Eastern European coal and Russian steel to destroy domestic production. Conservfascists dont care about UK industries or jobs its all about the money (theirs) and always has been. Its why they're building the tax free regulation free freeports all over the place, no one will benefit but the corporate companies operating in them. Its the whole WEF gameplan here and the US since Reagan of derugulation by governement, destruction of government institutions and bodies ,removal of worker rights and protections and removal of environmental blocks. Nothing will change if Labour gain power because theyre captured as well. Starmer wont change anything the Tories have done or are doing,he will just build on it. The UK is fucked or at least everyone who isnt part of the corporate capitalist establishment.Anyone who seriously thinks Brexit was/is about regaining Sovereignty and control of borders is seriously delusional.

I think there will be huge job losses once AI is introduced into the retail and service industries not just wage drops. There won't be many jobs and those that exist will be poorly paid and non contractual.... All part of the WEF plan though.

'Good news' of sorts but its estimated 2 billion minimum needs to be spent to make an actual difference and needs to be integrated with public transport infrastructure ( not going to happen, the government is already sabotaging HS2 ) and a parallel middle density affordable home building policy...of which so far theres non in the UK and not going to happen. Theyve thrown ten times more away to their criminal friends never to be seen again. A sticking plaster on the gaping hole in the Titanic.

Looks good ..you can only imagine what we might have available if we werent plagued by such short sighted unimaginative politicians utterly obsessed with car culture and influenced by that self obsessed industry and its endless pro-car propaganda.
