Turkey will block NATO membership and France and Germany will wet themselves and prevaricate. Biden? Who knows? At least it's not Trump. Trump it is said is in debt to Putin for favours done during his election campaign against Hillary when her emails got hacked and the contents disclosed to Trump who used them against her

Having been doing a lot of driving in the past week I spent a lot of time listening to the speeches at the Labour Party conference. They were all drivel, not an ounce of substance in any of them. Ed Millibands was spectacularly poor. Cliche after cliche. "More integrated policies" "making lives better" "taking things to a new level" with absolutely no mention of how or what they proposed to do. Starm was the same all nice words but totally vacuous. I have actually been to the Labour Party conference in the past years ago before I worked out they were all useless. Don't pin your hopes on them Public opinion is always tricky to fathom but based on opinion polls and an imaginary general election the majority appear to favour:- - onshore wind power production - increased pay for nurses and improved funding for welfare funded NHS and social care - Labour has committed to first and is likely to enable the second.... getting rid of the current prime minister. Looks like an improvement to me. I certainly wouldn't vote for Labour or the tories. Their policies are not adequate and both are overly interested in inflating their personal fortunes by hook or by crook... There is an international global group of high earners that has a UK presence that actively campaign and petition gvmts for higher taxes to be levied against them....some claim to have offered voluntary contributions (in writing) to the UK coffers and further claim to have been ignored or refused.

.....and in turn, electricity shortages, as the BBC article states 40% power stations are gas turbine.

Supplies to power stations and large employers will be prioritised over domestic supplies if there's a shortage.

It's just saying on LBC that businesses are being asked to use less or even no gas for one day a week. How does that work for manufacturing?

It just shows what a bunch of idiots we have had running the country for the last decade that the uk cant cope in a crisis. And now we've a pillock like Truss in charge.
Can you imagine what a mess we would be in if we had been buying 50% of our gas from Russia like Germany instead of 5%.
Look out for ourselves because those fools cant look out for us.

Tis true, they are saying it's because of Russia, yet you say it's only 5% of gas that comes from there...

Im only quoting figures they said back in June that UK wouldnt be badly affected by loss of Russian gas cuz UK only buys 5% of its needs off them. They said theyd buy LNG from Bahrain or UAE snd they wont sell it us.Theyve supposedly replaced lost supplies from Norway instead. Then theyre telling us there will be shortages. Non of the shite they tell us,adds up. The trouble is we've got a press and media corps that spins the government bullshit and wont hold any of them to account to get to the truth.

Tis true, they are saying it's because of Russia, yet you say it's only 5% of gas that comes from there... Yes but others take much more and Russia supplies enough gas collectively to Europe to really f*** things up if he turns it off So it starts a bidding war. Each country trying to look after itself. Like drowninh men trying to chamber onto a life boat. It shows two things One is the stupidity of ever getting in this position in the first place. Two is that Europe is not unified in any shape or form. First sign of trouble and its every country for itself and f*** the rest. The winter is coming and I predict this is going to get very nasty This could tear Europe apart

Germany used access to dirt cheap Russian gas to enable its domestically politically popular desire to dump dirty coal and lignite and nuclear power stations and that has landed them seriously dependent on Russia and thats Merkels fault as she was in charge. Scholz is no different he wants cheap gas to enable his drive for green reform
If it hadnt been for the major souring of relations between Britain and Russia over the alleged Russian poisonings of various exiled Russians here the UK would be up to its neck in fuel debt to the Russians too.
The UK dodged a bullet but the UKs own government policy to dump its need for massive strategic gas and oil storage and let energy companies do as they please is entirely self harm and we are all paying for that disastrous decision.

That's only the same as this country sqandering the benefit of North Sea Gas from thec70s onwards No forward vision, much less planning
