I think the last 100 years have been interesting. We have gone from valves to solid state to a right state . I dont blame our leaders either. I blame the fucking idiots that made it all possible for them to be our leaders.

Just to twist the knife OPEC has voted to reduce its production. You don't need to be too smart to realise they are just milking it

Yeah, let's all get electric cars! What could possibly go wrong? We should never have given up oil lamps and steam engines. Someone needs to invent the bicycle.

It's much more complicated though than it was in the 70s if we are going to be serious about it. Many more businesses rely on computers, even if its only for the tills. People order more on line etc They can't just switch off for 3 hours and catch up later

Why not? Maybe not the businesses, but individuals should be able to. Any mobile device should last longer than three hours without recharging. Some people will panic though.

It's much more complicated though than it was in the 70s if we are going to be serious about it. Many more businesses rely on computers, even if its only for the tills. People order more on line etc They can't just switch off for 3 hours and catch up later According to the reports people will be told a day in advance when their power will be cut so theyll have time to charge phones and prepare. Businesses will just have to close or do things manually just like they have to when bad weather takes out the power infrastructure. Life wont cease, people will just have to do stuff differently. The biggest issue is people who need constant electricity supply to run medical devices like dialysis machines that keep them alive. What's significant though is how the government is pretending there is no looming crisis and we will be fine and the people who actually run the infrastructure are subtly trying to sound the alarm and being ignored and dismissed as alarmism. The Truss government has already proved itself capable of creating catastrophe and ignoring warnings until forced to U turn so why would anyone believe theyve our energy needs situation under control. Weather forecast modelling hints at cold early winter so the system will get an early test.
