Hound of the baskervilles Has to be the early Basil Rathbone version for me.
Loved a lot of the Ealing comedies especially The Titfield Thunderbolt as well as Monsieur Hulot.
Whistle down the wind has stuck in my memory as well as Girl on a motorcycle, no mars bars needed there.

My sister loves the Ealing comedies, and particularly the one where an old lady rents a room to a bunch of robbers pretending to be a string quartet. They 'practice' a Boccherini minuet, so I encouraged Rosie and Darwin to whistle this piece. Wish I hadn't as they now whistle exerts as a call sign to each other and to me, constantly. If I don't reply, then they will whistle it out of tune, progressively more badly, until I do. It's a constant earworm

Now Zulu was epic.
Lived on the Friday night horrors as a kid before going off to work, Peter Cushing, Vincent Price and Christopher Lee, amusing perhaps by todays fckfest of gore and more gore but I remember jumping a number of times during my first viewing of Alien. Not many follow-ons ever match the original.

The Ladykillers, had to look it up as first thoughts were Arsenic and old lace. I never realised that The Maggie was also one of theirs too, another lovable classic and on top of the windmill and traction engine in the other thread I do so want a 'puffer'.
Always had a hankering for a river houseboat, nearest I came to weakening was a 30s cruiser in a yard, fab inside but outside was scary rough, very scary.

Aye, the Ladykillers, that was it.
I begged and begged to be allowed to stay up to watch the midnight movie, a horror film of the time, which is to say quite funny to watch today.
When it finally happened, I got to watch Frankenstein, who shuffled along with his arms out in front of himself, very slowly. I remember he shuffled off into a bog where he slowly sank and drowned, and this horrified me so much I was never able to watch another. I was easily scared in those days. Actually, I still am, and can't watch a lot of stuff.

As you say probably classed as cheesey by today's film buffs with the brightest of red paint blood and basic special effects. But still classics in my book. It was more about what you didn't see back then rather than seeing too much, they left more to the imagination. Also The vault of horror and Tales from the crypt. to mention a few more. Another good old film I recently watched was The Time Element by Rod Sterling which I believe was the pilot episode to the original Twighlight Zone series.

Yes, Hammer House of Horror, watched loads. Nowadays I enjoy mainly UK and Irish films which can turn out some amazing stuff without excessive gore. There appears to be a cold grey edge to what is produced and they get my attention.

I remember watching this a lot of years ago. It also scared me. As I say, I have a very low tolerance for scary movies. horror.wikia.com/wiki/Patrick_(1978)It was part of a series of Australian horror movies, and the re was another called The Long Weekend which was very unnerving (to me, anyway).
