Was a bit breezy here too, earlier. The wind handily deposited the apples from one of my favourite trees on the roadside, so I brought a good harvest home while I was walking Bruno.

A very wet morning here, and looking like to continue if the Met Office is right, which they are occasionally... Saves watering the potted plants in the yard, anyway. Time for a few little jobs indoors.

The storm missed us more or less and the dilapidated castle is very dilapidated. Feels more like a squat Water coming through the roof in one room and a lot of bare creakyfloors and old faded carpets around the place. It must have been magnificent once but there is a lot of work to be done if they think it would ever be restored

How horrible living in luxury in a posh castle....what they have to endure.
A leaky drafty castle squat sounds more fun.

Interesting... Raises all sorts of questions... Does the quality of the clientele fall as the castle degenerates? Do the prices grow less too? Who will be the last occupiers, zombies or squatters? It sounds too far away from towns to be a comfortable squat, unless everyone has bicycles (electric, of course, if there is still electric available)

I shudder to think how much it would cost to fix the place up But Airbnb don't care about all that. You can rent out a pigsty with the pigs still living in it on airbnb

Today feels pretty cool, I'm sitting inside wearing a jacket but am going to light a fire once I've walked the dog.
Once we've been through autumn/winter and are coming out the other side, a day like today will feel mild. However, I'm chilly now.

It's both muggy and cold at the same time here. Our neighbours are Croatian, they have just come back from visiting family over there. This morning she said how wonderful it is to be back here in the cool weather. Over there in August she says it's just too hot and she doesn't like it

We are driving down to Cornwall tomorrow. No doubt we will see the trees starting to turn as we head down. At a certain point in the year it can be magnificent but not yet. Instead I hope to see a constant stream of caravans and motor homes coming the other way.

Always my favourite time when i lived in Pembrokeshire and the Outer Hebrides..when all the summer tourists buggered off back home and normality finally resumed and the narrow roads werent a constsnt long trail of white caravan snails and motorhomes.

Must admit in a day or two I can head to the coast and will find it empty. Even the most isolated spotswould have had people popping up in the last weeks.
