A nurse wheeled me outside to smoke my pipe and make some phone calls . A lovely nice evening to be sat outside and relaxing. Nurse was only giving me 10 minutes but she gave me half an hour. Lovely, hard working staff at this hospital. I don't like the blood pressure test at 6 in the morning tho . More lumpy porridge and cold toast in the morning.

I'm in Scotland on the Bonny bonny banks of Loch Lomond. Rain rain and more rain. There is also that damp grey mist that clings to everything making everything feel damp and miserable.
Will be moving further up north tomorrow but don't expect the weather to improve. This is August

This is August If you move North of Skye towards Ullapool today you might stand a chance to miss the horrid deluge due for central Scotland overnight into tomorrow.

Scotland is always a bleak and uninviting place to me It's been a bit sunny today but the storm is moving in again for the night now. Starting to get dark already and it's not even 7pm yet. And it's bloody cold. Why anyone would live here out of choice I can't imagine

You dont get time to get bored with the weather on the Outer Hebrides, you get 4 seasons in a day if youre lucky, its a brill place 😁. Scotlands like Marmite you either love it or hate it.Personally i love both. Anywhere thats got wild weather gets my vote.
The positive side, when its windy youre not plagued by midges and mossies.
One of my friends in the lake district has had a fire going for 2 weeks, getting some practice in for winter 😁

Oh God more rain and got to pack up in the morning and move on Got to be at a castle in the middle of nowhere on the West Coast on Sat for a 40th wedding anniversary bash. Sounds posh but I'm told the castle is a bit dilapidated and they are letting it out to fund the restoration So storm Lillian is going to be wonderfully in our faces. Trains cancelled, planes cancelled and they are saying avoid coast roads. Well, we have about 40 miles of coast roads to drive tomorrow and there is only one road. Still I have this perverse excitement for such things. I survived this far so off I go. More likely to just be cold wet and miserable Still, red wine makes up for a lot once you get there
On a different note, I've been in Scotland for four days and already peed off with the campervans. Where we are staying there are two campervans and a VW day van with kayaks on top parked up up tonight on the approach road OUTside the site. No doubt they will be sneaking in under thecover of darkness to use the facilities. Thats if they dont just empty their toilet in the bushes and toss their rubbish over a hedge.

Sounds like could be fun in a dilapidated castle full of dilapidated celebrants...Just think how miserable youd be back in sunny Cornwall full of grockles.

In Cornwall we are the grockles (emmets) but the Cornish are not prejudiced, they resent everyone who hasn't been busily inbreeding in the County for the past twenty generations or so

No storm yet I have this vision that its going to be like some creepy movie A dilapidated castle, miles from anywhere on a rocky headland. Rain lashing down and the lights flickering All we need then is some eccentric old guy playing the organ and the eyes moving in the pictures.
