Thats crazy ! A Thai chicken is cheaper to use than a crappy 6 week old rubbish thing from here !!!
Today has been a bit slow on the learning curve compared with yesterday's abundance of new knowledge provided by a problematic tyre on my truck . I must of learned something new today , but best I can do right now is Princess Margret calls scrambled eggs , buttered eggs ? WTF ?

Today i learned in miniscule letters that my Tesco takeaway meal is made from chicken reared in Thailand. I wont be buying any more of their fookin takeaways.Nothing against Thailand just WTF do we need to import chicken from Thailand? The chicken used in takeaways, kebab shops and the like where they do quite (financially) attractive deals like two bits of chicken and chips for £2.50 comes from bizarre parts of the world. Places you have never really even heard of. For someone like me who eats a lot of take away meals on the run they used to be handy. The impression was it was like KFC only cheaper, however, that was not the whole story. In the aftermath of the horse meat scandal I read quite a lot about where all sorts of meat really comes from and its a bit scary. A lot of dodgy meat is getting re-issued with false paperwork in the old Eastern European countries to make it appear to be legit when its not. Since reading that I have avoided meat and meat products a lot more. I am not a veggie but I lead a near veggie diet most of the time now. If I eat meat I tend to buy it from Lidl or Aldi because its British

I'm well pissed off with 'food-miles'. I try and see the country of origin and buy British not out of patriotism but as support for our nations farmers, use them or lose them.
I don't get how it is viable and green to import cheap fruits and veg from places like Peru and China out of season just to satisfy a stupid public which has been spoiled from making the most of our seasonal produce when it's available.

I absolutely agree with you. Its not until you start looking that you begin to realise. I have another gripe where imported food is concerned. My OH's cousin and her husband had small holding in Cornwall, they grew salad stuff, lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers and sold it locally. They were bankrupted by imports from Spanish growers who were claiming massive EU subsidies. Small holdings don't qualify for EU subsidies if they are under 13 acres. The Spanish growers then dump their surpluses in the UK because its easy to ship it here

Yet another brilliant reason to get the fuck out of Europe! Sooner the better i reckon. Were just the dumping ground for every eu country's fuckin shit now, yet we have to throw perfectly good produce away cos its too big/small/wrong colour/shape etc...

I've learnt that a farting boat means someone has left the lock open. Well and truly grounded.

I have re-learned that even in a hard drought, a spaniel can find mud to cover himself in. Well done Spot, I've just had to give him a shower with the hose.

Today I learnt that it’s not a very good idea to disturb a wasp nest by cutting into it with a chainsaw. Ouch 🐝
