I like to think we all do it. I just wish I did it less. I have tried not to collect or keep stuff as much as I used to, since moving into the van. For instance, currently I have ten or so folding plastic spoons, the kind that are in yogurt and salads. I don't know why I am keeping them! I have perfectly good cutlery.
So am I on my own here hoarding stupid stuff?

Yes. I only hoard useful stuff.
My missus however does not share my opinion of what is useful.......

My problem is, when does it stop being useful and end up in the way?

Yes I hoard useful stuff but I prefer to call it squirrelling away cos I try and store it tidy. The trouble is when you have a clear out you can guarantee you'll suddenly find a need for the thing you just cleared out.
As a prime example of the above, I recently chucked out a couple of spare hoover nozzles I had lying around. Low and behold 2 weeks later I acquired a hoover and it didn't have any attachments apart from the bare hose. That'll teach me.

Yes! Exactly that! It's the feeling you will need it one day.

Got stuff from when I was a kid including my first car which I bought in 66 (one I decided to keep and restore but never did)and bike bits, spares which could have come in use but never did. I don't like selling stuff and usually will swap or give away. This year I'm determined to have a serious clearout and have made a very small start to fund my box.

Its books...lovely old books read then on a shelf and never read again but unable to pass on...like 7 years in tibet.Regret every one i have passed on.The one i regret most was my beloved motorbike haynes manual.I could get a copy but wouldnt have my youthful oily fingerprints and notes. Why are these things long gone so stuck in mind?Someone i lived with was a big hoarder.I binned stuff utter crap, came back from work and there it was again. On the road feels so much lighter and freer.Once in a house it sort of gathers and settles round me.Yet I do not like it as it feels heavy somehow.

I think I know why I hold on to stuff so much. I really want to be on the road, but can't because I have family issues just now, so I console myself with putting stuff around me. Then I look at the piles of gear I have and get depressed, so to make myself feel better I go out a Wombling! My own worst enemy I am.... 😁😁😁

That's the problem, it's soooo easy when stuff is free!

I don't hoard as such as I like to keep my life as simple as possible.I'm abit of a tidy freak too,so if I had too much stuff lying around,it would stress me out.The less I have, the happier I am.My twin's bf is a full on hoarder. They don't live together yet,he rents, she has her own place, and he does "attempt"to sort his stuff out,but by the sounds of it has a long way to go.I did some research a while ago,and found hoarding is linked to a form of OCD.

I am a bit of a hoarder , and have the space to do it , I even have 4x 25 kg buckets of nails I have taken out of pallets waiting to be straightened. It's such a good feeling making and mending , you just never know when something will come in useful ! Baling twine is one of my favorites .
