It only needs one from outside of the family to carry the infection and those dear little 5yr olds will take more than headlice back to their doting parents and grandparents if they share the home as well.
I could really murder a pint, a bag of proper chips or a Chinese(meal) but it'll taste better when this lot is over and I can wait especially as I've now got a bar of chocolate from the farm shop today.

Thats 5 kids then with maybe 3 families between them.So if just one of any of those families gets covid they all will.If they are playing in communal areas whilst infected anyon else using the communal area touching anything they have will be at risk. Yes exactly, what goes round comes round, as they say. five kids and three mums out there about quarter of an hour ago. My mate in Cornwall says there is a pub in Bugle (which Will probably knows of, and Harry definitely does) that is still allegedly open if you know the secret knock to give on the back door.

I think the problem is they've given out such contradictory information and it's gone out in dribs and drabs that people will interpret it as they see fit. Their refusal to ensure anyone who has to work at the moment does so in protective clothing gives out an impression that it's not really a big deal - if people working in close contact with Covid patients aren't able to take appropriate precautions because the government hasn't issued the correct equipment then I can see why people are under-estimating the problem. Similarly with things like the plant nursery, F - should that be open? Is it essential? If it's open people will assume it's alright to go. And if the shop doesn't enforce social distancing as the supermarkets have done now, then people won't do it off their own bat, and so on. It's an utter shambles. They really needed to get in front of it and issue hard and fast rules - when the PM doesn't bother to follow the medical advice I can see why others feel they don't have to either. Very scary. I can see us being in for a long time!

Yes, exactly that, they've also still not added on the care home deaths yet so we're definitely over the 20,000 mark now, probably heading for 25,000 as we speak. Shameful.

I think pretty much all authorities on epidemiology have said UK is likely to be the worst hit of all Europe by the end. Its getting pretty boring being told we are at the peak or its flattening out. In parts of UK its just getting going. Now theyre in about an imminent vaccine thats only in its infancy. Lie after lie after lie.

Feel utterly abandoned in all this chaos. All the information I have formally received was the lockdown letter.Everything else I have found out myself online and on tv.I cannot get any online deliveries at all from anywhere.Thankfully I have my own transport so wont need the bus which is still running.Fortunately I have spent many years training with nursing and caring and am alert to danger as you are when you have close family with compromised health issues.I have got gloves for what theyre worth but the masks I ordered are not being sent.Ebay found the site was a fake and are now not allowing medical grade masks to be sold.I feel like noone at all gives a tss.Iam being forced to go out into shops to get food.I am not being allowed to buy an effective mask. The letter aired today that care home residents will not get ventilation will shock most people, but everyone involved in health care knows full well that unspoken decisions have taken place for decades.Good luck everyone because that appears o be the main protection we are going to get.Luck.FFS

One of the points made to me last night by a friend is this. Approx 85% of all care homes are privately run charging anything from £700 to £2000 a week yet the media is making out that its the government's fault they haven't got PPE

Just cuts down the interaction risk a bit. Yes I agree, luck will play a huge part in how well anyone gets through this, but we are very lucky to have folk on here knowledgeable enough to answer a question on whether or not something on the internet is likely to be accurate. I know I find that very helpful and reassuring.

One of the points made to me last night by a friend is this. Approx 85% of all care homes are privately run charging anything from £700 to £2000 a week yet the media is making out that its the government's fault they haven't got PPE Care and Nursing homes are cashcows highly invested in by Asians and which give differing levels of return from the piss-poor to the firstrate. I was lucky to have got my late O/H into one owned by Sikhs and the nursing was very much firstrate and the Matron was highly trained winning them top awards and a trip to No 10 to get them. The good ones train their staff to high standards and pay above average to keep them.
Nursing homes should definately have been on the ball from the start of this when PPE was easily available as the majority are not hampered by NHS chain of command so there should have been no excuses for lack of PPE nor is there now in reality with the amount of peeps offering their services in the making of it.
Read of a couple of firms who got stuck in the system when they made the offers so went straight to the hospitals and nursing homes and supply direct.
My main concern there is the lack of testing BUT testing is only viable if everyone follows the rules and takes the utmost care.

One of the points made to me last night by a friend is this. Approx 85% of all care homes are privately run charging anything from £700 to £2000 a week yet the media is making out that its the government's fault they haven't got PPE My personal view is that all private businesses, whatever they may be, focus on profits and in many cases the interests of their shareholders and, with that mentality in place, will happily exploit any person or resource necessary to keep profits high. In a situation like this, I feel very strongly that the government should have, as part of their pre-planning that they didn't bother to do, put measures in place to ensure any privately owned business that would continue to operate to ensure all staff members have the necessary protective gear, and make sure the necessary gear was available for them to do that, as well as ensuring the same for all state owned operations as well. As a nation and a culture we have for centuries now, I think, put profit before people and the planet and we're all paying a hefty price for that in one way or another. We're an island, the same as New Zealand. We could have protected ourselves the same way that they did. They've had a dozen deaths, I believe, because they implemented a range of preventative measures very quickly. Their PM put people first and ours didn't, and as a result, whoever takes or doesn't take the blame for it, we've got 20,000 dead people and no end in sight just now. Let's just hope that it starts to slow down before too much longer.
