I totally understand what you are saying Givingitsomethought and it Defo makes sense what you are saying and that it is true in a strange way and a total UTurn of how you and many in the same situation in benefits and living a day by day lifestyle and going without often and having to make do and live of what we have that to all you and us and all Peeps in those situations before it will and does give us a feeling that for once you get the feeling of more secure ... because in a way we have been living like this BUT NOT as obviously so severe for many years ... Meaning in the way of “We got use to going without and not being able to buy what we would like to buy and have and did not have the choice or luxury of going to the shops and big supermarkets and buying anything and everything we wanted because we would not be able to afford that and be able to do that ... So in a way I think in a twist of terrible circumstance of this cruel virus we All are in a Weird Strange way Mentally more prepared to not be able to have and buy what we want at anytime or any day etc etc because we all couldn’t afford to do that !! Yes it does not take away the terrible shock of it all .. and fears of this cruel virus and fears of many that they won’t have enough food etc etc ...but it does make us all feel in a strange way secure as you say and better understanding of being and going without .. And also WE ALL STILL WOULD NOT GO BESERK AND BE SELFISH AND JUST GRAB ALL AND ANYTHING WITHOUT THOUGHT OR CARE OF OTHERS !! Because our Thinking is STILL SO USE TO BUYING “ONLY WHAT WE NEED “ !!!!! Whereas most people now “JUST GRAB GRAB GRAB WHAT THEY DO NOT EVEN NEED “!! You sadly ONLY have to look at people from the Old to Younger in tears because they cannot GET NO FOOD SADLY!! People are NOT THINKING OF ANYBODY ELSE EXCEPT THERE SELFISH UNCARING SELVES !!!

My biggest concern is that we're not doing enough for our medical staff, emergency services, carers and nursing homes as they are struggling to shop AND WE NEED THEM. They get enough stress from the shit they have to deal with without having to scrabble for leftover crumbs to survive. Some supermarkets are doing a 'special hour' for them and pensioners but it's not enough. I totally agree with all you say Fenrisulfr as it is NOT enough being done for them and MORE needs to be done Defo .. i go to a sheltered accomodation which has 50 residents All OVER 65 at least 3 times a week to visit a neighbour who use to live next door to me who suffered dementia and sadly had to be moved from his home into the sheltered accommodation with Carers ! Who he has 2 Carers 4 times a day and he is totally housebound and cannot Walk he is 95 .. ihave always still visited him as he has nobody and I have always done his foodshopping for him etc Now I do his shopping and his Carers as well ... yes they shop themselves aswell BUT when they do THEY CANNOT GET WHAT THEY NEED THEY LEAVE ME A LITTLE NOTE AND I PICK THEM UP FOR THEM.. i use to do this for just his Carers but NOW I do all the Carers in his buildings who cannot get the things they need as well ... because they work sooo hard and sooo many hours they cannot get anything hardly as SELFISH IGNORANT PEOPLE ARE STILL BUYING NON STOP EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE PLENTY THEY STILL GOING OUT EVERYDAY AND GETTING MORE AND MORE AND MORE !! With NO CARE OR THOUGHT FOR ANYBODY !! So I try to help the Carers as much as I can Getting them the things they desperately need !! Because they cannot buy hardly anything when they go to the shops with the little time they have spare to do there own shopping !! Maybe I think the Gov AND Supermarkets should do and Set up A NIGHTIME EVENING SHOP FOR CARERS AND NURSES AND DOCTORS AND FRONTLINE EMERGENCY PEOPLE ETC ETC ONLY !!! As MOST if NOT ALL CARERS Work From 6.30 To 8pm ... So maybe a Special Shop from 10pm To Midnight should be Arranged for Careworkers and nurses doctors frontline emergency people etc etc where the shops will be STOCKED for them ... as that would really help them all I think maybe

My old mate who I dropped the surprise shopping on this morning, just been on the phone to him to warn him the bags on his doorstep as I couldn't rouse him earlier and he thinks he's got the virus and is in a right state but just about managing. His family know he's bad so he's got some sort of safety net.
Feel bit guilty saying this but TF he didn't come to the door and try and pay me (I owe him loads as he used to look after me when I was younger and stupid). He's self isolating but it's the thought.

My mate went this morning and there was a huge crowd of all ages waiting for the shop to open and as soon as it did they all just surged through the door. When he commented about it at the customer service desk the assistant just held her hands up in despair "we cant stop them they just get aggressive"

When he commented about it at the customer service desk the assistant just held her hands up in despair "we cant stop them they just get aggressive" Hence why we need police and private security in stores because people are just doing as they please. How long before they just start walking out with what they want or taking it off elderly customers when they leave. China stopped public access to stores and had teams distributing food to local residents. If people cant behave reasonably then we need restrictions. They need to close certain stores and move to home delivery, they can control allocation online. Its not really fair to put the onus on checkout staff to enforce limits and lets be honest about it,if stores had imposed strict limits from the start the stores wouldnt be stripped bare. Theyve all made a tidy killing on the sheer volume of products that have gone through the checkouts, like Christmas week for 3 weeks. So theyll have enough profits to fund home deliveries and extra store security.

Got a bit of shopping for mum and dad, want to drop it off tommorrow, they want me to leave it outside the door and not go in, it hurts me so bad to see them so frightened 😢😢 That is the right thing to do. They are talking about the "three day rule" post and shopping should be left untouched in the hall for three days before it is opened/unpacked giving any bugs on it time to die. The object is to keep them safe so it sounds like they are being very sensible. My OH is in lock down with her two 90 year old parents and family are just leaving shopping in the porch. Then she takes it in, washes her hands but leaves it in the hall for three days. You can't be too careful, us oldies generally are very resilient to tough situations, we have lived through a few in the past Be strong but be safe buddy

All this freezer stuffing. All the people in and pressure on a weak national grid.Pop goes the power.Soggy goes the food.Probably best to get core supplies not reliant on power to store.Really hope it doesnt happen. There would be many thousands of tons of wasted food.

A hotel chain in London is offering 300 beds to charities for rough sleepers. Bad news is it's the Intercontinental and they are 'at a discount'. I wonder if there are any takers.

There is a message on the local website listing times and days at various supermarkets for the elderly and vunerable to go shopping. PLUS NHS WORKERS.
So now the vunerable will be rubbing shoulders with all the doctors and nurses on their way home from a shift at the hospital. I don't think they have thought that one through very well

Got to see mum and dad 😀 we talked through the window, left her a Mother’s Day card and a selection of meat from the farm shop, thought that might be a bit more practical than flowers this year. They looked okay, frail, but okay👍
