we used to do the toy run at christmas till the powers that be stopped it Why did they stop it? I don't know what's wrong with some people
On a similar note, there was a Facebook post from the local Roundtable (who did the Santa on a Sleigh thing round here last weekend) saying that they'd got so much abuse there were areas they were considering not visiting next year. I honestly can't get my head around people abusing Father Christmas??! They have people knocking on the doors with collection buckets but all very nice people and no pressure to donate, certainly nothing intimidating or hostile about them, a simple "Sorry, not for me" will do. I kind of despair sometimes. Sigh. Back to Bah Humbug Lol

The Christmas tat is now in the shops. I am stunned at the level of non festive tree decorations, so here's a challenge. I want to find the most hideous un-Christmast tree bauble. I am setting the bar high here. I just spotted this in Asda. It's a hippo wearing a tutu and a wig. Er wot?? Are they serious?? Over to you, I challenge anybody to find something less representative if Christmas!! Hahahaha .... Omgoshes that be And is the Funniest Bauble IVE EVER SEEN hahahaha and I just think I been cracking ribbs giggling soooo much when I just see this Sooo Funny Xmas Bauble Vanwoman84 hehehehe And I reckon you should tell the truth that you SOOOO LOVED IT hehehehehe

most toy runs were a bit of a con, yeah the bikers did there bit contributing both money and toys often collecting thousands of toys, and note they all have to be new, maybe 30 kids in the hospital at xmas, each kid gets a shiny new toy or perhaps two. so what happens to the rest ? they are sold to charity shops, yes sold for pennies. I personally have bought van loads of toys for 25 quid a load from a charity warehouse and resold them to secondhand shops BAH HUMBUG

Yes I have heard that about people with Guide Dogs as well, and have had someone looking at their phone walk into my son's wheelchair before now, lol, I think he hurt himself enough to make him look up a bit in future I know, we can all be snappy and having a bad day but there does seem to be too much of it about now, and in the wrong context? It used to be there were certain pubs where you might need to be a bit wary because things tended to kick off but now it seems to happen anywhere and it's very strange. I don't know what it is

Not answering the door is fine, Cricket, but abusing people for knocking is unnecessary, just "no thanks" or closing the door again does the job without any unpleasantness. The RoundTable here do a lot for local people and the kids loved to see Santa (on our street anyway) so I am more than happy for them to knock on my door and I'll give them a few quid. There are plenty of others that I'll say no to but it's just that, I say no and nothing more. I don't abuse people. Even the Tory who turned up on my doorstep was turned away with just a "no" (although I think the look on my face must have spoken before I did because she was shaking her head and turning away before I even spoke lol) x

That's terrible that they were selling them on like that, so many families in need. The guy at our local recycling centre was telling me about the numbers of new toys they get dumped there - brand new, boxed, nothing wrong with them apart from some slight damage to the packaging in some cases. They tried giving them away to the local charity shop and they wouldn't take them, apparently, all sounded very odd. It's such a shame that so much goes on that people aren't told about when they donate
