Dunno, I remember watching Tom and Jerry and they were excessively violent to the cat.

True dat - dem damn yankees got a lot to answer for !!
American cartoons have always had violence. As you rightfully say,tom and jerry and of course the road runner are prime examples.. Maybe my mum purposely got me watching cartoons made by hippies in the sixties and seventies !!! Can not fault her for that if she did ;-)
Following mary, mungo and midge I had bagpuss , bod , trumpton , thomas the tank engine , camberwick green and postman pat even later still who inspired me to buy a red post office van !-)
All in all a good influence on my life !

No wonder I'm mentally imbalanced after Bill and Ben and Aunty Jean with her hands up Finga and F........
Dr Who was a revelation whereas the introduction to stickybackplastic
Valerie was always hot but I gather Peter Pervus was already there. Get down Shep..............

I was even a fan of the test card if I was off school poorly once we got a colour set around 1970

I was even a fan of the test card if I was off school poorly once we got a colour set around 1970 70 sticks in my mind for my home and only black and white programmes were allowed when nothing in colour was on.There were only three sides to watch as far as I can remember. The new TV replaced one with a screen of about 12" which took ages to light up.
By contrast I now have an old fckd 2nd hand 42" which is on it's last legs but was the best I could afford for the O/H and her bad eyesight at the time.
When it dies I don't know if I'll replace it as my computer has most of what I watch but I'll still get stiffed by the vile twunts from the BBC.
