When I was a lad my grandad & his brothers owned a farm & one of the guys who worked there was a top quality hedge layer. Apparently he won numerous awards for his troubles.

I have done a bit, and went on a course to be with an expert for a day, was great, really enjoyed it. Definitely not as good as old chap in video he must have been strong as hell to wield that hook and axe all day, his hands must have been as hard as iron.
