Yes, it is a fine principle, a principle that many will agree with. Unfortunately many of those that agree with the principle sadly shop on price.

If you mean most people have few ethics and are grossly hypocritical then yes youre right. Everyone bleats about environmental damage, slave labour, corporate exploitation but no one wants to alter their consuming habits even when theyre able to.
Much better for British and American companies to manufacture goods in China and ship back here alongside cheap Chinese goods, shipped half way round the world, than actually pay for ethically produced and sourced products.
Cash is king screw the world, heard it all before....and you needed to ask earlier why id given up on hippy culture.

Exactly that, except the bit about hippy culture. If you literally have £1 in your pocket, and what you want to buy is £1 mass produced or £1.50 fair trade, what are you going to do? It's literally that simple. That's hippies and sheeple alike. With the best will in the world, you would be a fool to buy one fair trade thing instead of two mass produced items (different items, not the thing that costs £1). It's not fair to beat people up for having no money. I wouldn't leave mass produced eggs in a bin if they were edible. That would be ten times worse than buying them.

Unfortunately what’s right and stark reality are sometimes worlds apart.

If consumers bought ethically produced products in the volumes they do unethically produced products the prices would come down. People dont want to own the responsibility though, much easier to blame corporates and everyone else for wrecking the planet. People are ok buying a 70 quid shirt to wear once or twice than spend on ethically produced food or toiletries. As for your point about hippies thats exactly right.. Hippies are just sheeple like the rest these days.Theres no distinction between mainstream or hippy values, same with most 'travellers' and why i made the comments i did. Hippies today are like the champagne socialists...all talk no integrity.
