Too all the ppl who don't want it public, both ukhippy and tribal living were open public forums that anyone could read without registering. You probably posted one one or both of these forums in the past, what's the difference if this one goes the same way?

What's wrong with being able to read but not post? If it's an issue we can have a members only section but saying that anyone can become a member and play the games threads to earn enough post to read the whole site. At the end of the day if someone really wants to read what's being said on here they can just register and read.

Dunno about anyone else, but its not about posting in general, its just posting some things which are personal. I'm inclined to avoid doing this most of the time. I'd be wary about posting things on here, too.

I'm unlikely to post if it becomes all public. I post here to chat with friends, and whereas I know that nothing is truly hidden online, I still don't want to be shouting stuff out loud to the whole world.Dunno about anyone else, but its not about posting in general, its just posting some things which are personal. I'm inclined to avoid doing this most of the time. I'd be wary about posting things on here, too. Likewise. There's banter amongst friends which should never be in the pubic eye especially if it attracts unwelcome attention from the powers that be or cockwombles. Some stuff is alright public but a lot in a community, no. Fuck it up for figures and my account gets closed.

How many times do I have to say this? I am not saying open the whole forum. I am asking if we need more sections the public can read!!

Back on topic, there is a way through settings to show more of the forum, but NOT the actual threads. The section can be shown, but not the thread title. What will be shown is the number of threads and posts. It's just numbers, no titles or even what the last post was. If a guest clicks on it, they get a message that says they must log in.

I think showing the following sections. Remember NOT the content. If in doubt, look at the forum when you are logged out. That's the view a guest will see.
Hippy Traveller History Food Frugal Living Commercial Vehicles
