So what I read here is that patient identifiable information is pseudomysed. Therefore my healthcare particulars can be used to inform statistical research and analysis but will not identify me by name or address or any other means. I don't want my person identifiable information made available to anyone but do believe that the statistics drawn from my healthcare record might prove useful when applied to the bigger picture. Have I missed something. I absolutely do not want my person identifiable information to be made available but I absolutely do want my record to contribute statistics towards research.

I don't know if you've missed anything, I just posted a newsworthy story and a link for people to opt out if they didn't want their medical data shared.

I guess it's about trust . Do you trust your government or their advisors ? Do you trust what you are being told? If not their is an option to opt out.

The gvmt site says data is "pseudonyimised" as opposed to anonymised. "Anonymised" is the usual status for sensitive research data. Someone should check the nuance because the use of the differential term is suspicious.

Like the government is so good at protecting our privacy and data...not. You can bet on it most of these purchasers of data are American healthcare industry corporates and majority of Americans wouldnt allow their data to be scrubbed and used, probably because they dont trust them, why is that and why should we? Why has the government done so little to tell anyone theyre selling our data and only have two weeks left to object? Individual choice what people do but information is money and to this Government we are just commodities to them and once data has been sold you have no control of it or how its used by third parties.

Someone should check the nuance because the use of the differential term is suspicious. What this means is that you and your details are given a pseudonym, a false name. But if someone has a list of which names fit which pseudonyms (And they will, won't they?), you can still be referenced and identified, either for 'special reasons', or simply for money changing hands...
