We were always on prepay at the house. I never understood why, if the company has my money (to get interest on) is it more expensive?

The price per unit was higher when my mother was on one 20 yrs ago,no idea what the cost is now but yes theyre getting your money in the bank with digital cards long before youve even used any electricity.

If you pay by direct debit they always take a bit more than they reckon you actually owe.
That way you are always running a surplus
Often hundreds of pounds per customer
Add that up over thousands of customers and it adds up to a tidy amount of other people's money sitting in their bank account

Got had like that once,after that i cancelled DD and whacked 50 quid a month in a savings account to cover bill. They didnt like being paid by cheque or cash. Theyre just like a casino,rob you blind...same with the water companies. They should all be in prison for extortion.

On subject of "Energy" costs - I just had a row with Octopus Energy who told me they were going to take twice the normal monthly amount I had agreed ... via my Direct Debit (am also having arguments with the bank (Co-op) who are changing all their rules and have redesigned their website. Now I can't make payments to any none UK suppliers apparently ... and they keep messing with my payments to local suppliers (like my milk delivery people) ..... I'm getting really tired of all the bullshit ....... doing a bit of minor direct action  |

Thanks for the like VW ... my bit of subversion has been taken down off the COMMUNITY Noticeboard BTW ... by the Co-op manageress "Sue" ... who thought it was HER STAFF who had done it - and instructed it to be taken down. SO ....... I have demanded its re-instatement or return (with an explanation as to why it is unacceptable ...... I mean the Noticeboard has all kinds of stuff, the local "grow the tallest Sunflower Competition" for example - I don't think my offering is dangerous or offensive or non community orientated or too tall a poppy. Will see what happens.......... oh, 'cept the Manageress is "on holiday" how very convenient ... I won't have to hit her with a baseball bat and get myself arrested again........ONLY JOKING ... UPDATE: apparently the offence I cause was by using the words "gobshite" and "bullshit" ... she who is in charge of Corporate Order (and obviously Public Correctness) .... decided it might offend children and parents .... god help em if that's the most awful thing they think they're going to have to contend with.
