Should not be any road tax . It stinks . We pay shit loads of tax on fuel . More fuel you buy more tax you pay .That stinks too as our fuel is fucking stupid expensive any way . Fuck the system and buy some stout walking boots and pedestiate every where . Walking always makes me happy . Make it the only way , like back in the 0lden days. Before horses had been conned  |

In that same link on electric vehicle VED it mentions fuel duty possibly going up..
" Meanwhile there was no mention in Thursday's Statement about what will happen to fuel duty next year. This makes up a substantial amount of the price paid for petrol and diesel on forecourts.
It is scheduled to rise each year, but has been frozen since 2011. At the Spring Statement in March, it was cut by 5p to 53p, for 12 months.
Today the OBR said it expects a 12p rise in fuel duty from April - if that 5p cut does end and there isn't another freeze."

Before horses had been conned You wouldnt escape tax if there were no private vehiclesat all. Theyd just tax you on something else like whack up VAT on everything ... including walking boots. If you're off grid theyll just tax panels like Califonia is proposing in the US. Governments and council parasites always find ways to steal your money so they can waste it for you or gift it to their mates like all the covid protection money theyve stolen. |

I don't think a lot of people (even those that live inside the proposed new zone) fully appreciate the full implications of the extended ULEZ when it comes in next August.
It will cover every London Borough so more or less everything within the M25 will be within the zone.
All diesel vehicles older than about 3 or 4 years old and any petrol vehicle older than about ten years old will have to pay £12.80 a day.
Of course they won't pay. The cameras will only be dotted about on the main roads. So people will try to zig zag down the side streets to try and avoid the charge. Creating chaos no doubt.
Then the camera vans will start popping up

bernie I think you are right. When the first LEZ came in, so many people said that they weren't bothered, because "they didn't go to London". People who lived places like Enfield. Now it's getting bigger and bigger. It won't stop until it's all of the UK. Hopefully it will be after I stop driving!

Now it's getting bigger and bigger. It won't stop until it's all of the UK. Hopefully it will be after I stop driving! And the fine for straying accidentally into the new LEZ will be £160 When it covers all the London Boroughs the boundaries will be invisible and you won't necessarily know you have driven from a non London Borough into one where you have to pay. There will be signs on the main roads but not on the side streets. At the moment the boundary is the North and south circular so its fairly well defined |

On road tax i would like to have a rant road tax should just be the same for everyone its a complete mess why are massive tractors and agricultural machinery exempt there worth about 150 grand or more yet they damage and wreck the roads and road edges and use the road a lot during the summer months. I know its tough for famers at the moment i know a lot are struggling but you cant deny the fact they use the roads give them a rightpounding cake them in crud and i think it woud be right if they paid a bit to use them . like a dumper or a forkilft used mainly on a construction site are i think nearly 300 quid each but if there agricultural there zero and you hardly use them on the road just like to get from job to job like plant i hire in isnt taxed ie your not allowed to use it on the road its ridiculess becuase plant hire firms cant offord the road tax and struggle with white diesel now smae goes with vans my peugeot van is small econimcal and emissions are low yet i pay full comercial tax rate, why then i have a friend exactly same model but its a car and for some reason its lower rate of either 30 quid or zero the whole things madness then theres massive hybrids like i know someone has zero rated yet its terrible if its used on petrol on mpg and low range on electric but its a massive battleship of a volvo car but somehow greener and zero rated compared to my low road use and high mpg low immsions van , there rant over road tax needs a overhaul and while im on speed limit why does a van have to stick to 50 60 70 on roads but a similar car can do 60 70 70 or even a mini bus or people carrier this puts van delivery drivers in a points on licence risk place when modern vans are safe stopping distnces are good. should go on weight of vehicle not some 1960s drum brakes tin can ethos of yester year Not just road tax, were being arse raped at every turn now. The whole system needs looking at & overhauling for the good of all not just the top 5%. As always, don't hold your breath tho, they only see you as a cash cow or a person.... |

Overhaul road tax its stupid
have a basic tax on using the road that everyone pays,
its that simple
everything else is easier to sort out in say emissions by as they are doing duty on fuel,
so everyone pays road tax
but if your in electric you pay more .
this would work because the electric vehicle owners would pay less fuel duty but contribute more for road upkeep
whereas if fuel is more expensive with tax added
this is an incentive for if you need a car or van to use it less or shift to electric
apperntly electric has been even with the horrible way the lithium is mined greener than diesel or petrol .
but make electric vehicles pay more, and sack taxing unfairly vans.
tax agricultural machines but a bit heavier in road tax but let them still have red diesel because hopefully this keeps the price of food lower for now.
