On a pragmatic side, imagine the royal family were disbanded overnight, I bet the cost of upkeep of their property would cost way more than the 39 million taxpayers spend at the moment.

Like i said in my earlier post...corporate parasites and the 'names' who own them/benefit from government contracts and subsidies.
Whichever side of the coin the royals are just a huge distraction from far more relevant and important issues.
People do like to get hung up on irrelance though and the royals are paraded in your face regularly so theres always a focus for distraction from world events,bad government or focus for hate that could be more appropriately directed.
What of the 1 million pound a piece of taxpayer money the government spends on a single cruise missile or the 1.2 billion its spent on military drones to kill people in the middle east? The 200 billion its spending on Trident its ultimate aim to incinerate people.
Dont see many folks moaning about those costs but the royals-im no fan-but what they cost and what damage they do pales into insignificance compared to other wasting of taxpayer money.

Oh, I moan like mad on the spending on trident, and those fucking pointless aircraft carriers, the second one will never be finished, it is only being built to the stage it is because of the massive penalty clausesfor cancellation in the contract inserted by BAE, the U.K. has no fucking money for the airplanes to put on either, most of the planes on the first one are American owned and run planes, and for that matter so are the trident missiles, we rent them from the yanks.
One plane for them costs more than the royal family combined.
Might as well just become the 51st state, all hail your supreme leader, Donald Trump.

I think Britain is in all but name and has been for long time.Unlike much of Europe Britain is well and truly the lap dog of Washington and absorbed and assimilated into its 'culture'..yuck.

Half listening to the ITV news and there was a rundown on the royal wedding route round Windsor following which there was a background voice slagging off Megan Markie. It'll be interesting to see if there's anything in the news about it tomorrow unless it's hushed up.
