Guardian ArticleThis is just unbelievable. People who came here as children, have paid taxes and contributed all their lives, have been called illegal. Could you provide four pieces of documentation for the last forty years, to prove you had been here all that time? I know I couldn't!

Me neither , though the tax people have some pretty decent proof I was here in 1985 , and 2001 + loads of horrific police records for 1984. What do they do if you cannot fill in the gaps ? I cannot even prove where I was born !

What a total f.up. Decent folk getting shafted out of the blue having been failed by successive governments. Heard on the news today that the home secretary had stepped in on their behalf but it won't make up for the grief they've suffered at the hands of the system.

Remember who WAS Home Secretary? That's right, the Prime Minister! What did she do about this? Nothing!

Remember who WAS Home Secretary? That's right, the Prime Minister! What did she do about this? Nothing! Lied about immigrants being terrorists, and claiming that "human rights" prevented her from sending them home, to be tortured;killed, or both. I am very glad my mother died three years back, or they would be sending her back to the Ukraine.

Looks like the Home Office is doing an about turn on this.

A Home Office task force set up in response to the outcry is now looking at 113 cases as a result of calls to a new hotline.

Well that's interesting. The Home Secretary swore that there were no quotas for the deportation of illegal immigrants. Then it came to light that, in 2015 she said there was. Guess who runs the deportations? Capita. Yup, that's right, a private company. What a coincidence!
