It's hard to put a monetary value on the things you enjoy. Are your weeks in the van worth the expense? If this is your way of relaxing, getting away from things, looking at someplace new, and enjoying doing so, then yes, it's worth it. If you need to cut down financially, think about doing two weeks instead of three or four in a given period of time.

It was 1.89 today in the Cotswolds. I suppose it depends on how much enjoyment you get from the van rather than just how much it costs to put fuel in it. At least with it you can go off fairly cheaply whenever you want and not have to pay rip-off BnB or hotel prices and you can look around for cheap or free places to park.
Personally i wouldnt give up a live in van purely on the cost of fuel, unless its not a very economical van in which case id get a different one.

It is what it is. If prices go up too much then I will have to make an allowance for that in what is charge my clients. I believe in working hard to play hard and can still in get by on about twelve weeks work a year. I have cut down on a few other luxuries and am unfortunately giving less to charity but will not sacrifice my van life and my travelling for anything. It's who I am and what I do. Even if fuel costs doubled I would keep at it 👍

Only 3 things worth spending money on . Food, tools and travel . A live in van is excellent value if you use it right . My 2p

If it's a diesel, keep it with a full tank. Within reason, diesel doesn't go off. It's £1.76 here. If it's the insurance, you can get temporary insurance by the weekend or week. Pay the road tax monthly to spread the cost. I wouldn't get rid of the van, nothing's getting cheaper.

I still like the idea of a van as back up accommodation, especially if it's off grid and you can do all your day to day stuff in it without worrying about power cuts etc. If it's just for fun - personally I've had to give up a lot of things that I did just for fun and it's turned me into a boring bugger so I wish I hadn't but needs must and all that Maybe if you feel it's not worth the cost now you could swap the van for camping instead and just bung all your camping stuff in the boot/trailer and go away like that instead. Although some campsites aren't that cheap! We won't be doing some of the things I thought we would this time last year, I thought the first lockdown was going to be the only problem - that feels like the easy bit now!
