I'm really sorry, I haven't been here for ages and now basically it is the only place I can think of where I might get some advice.
A health-related forum that I have belonged to for over 16yrs has decided to close its doors in August. The organisers offered social media options as alternatives but the general consensus was that no one wanted to bring their medical condition onto social media where they are basically the product...no chance, no way.
I suggested starting another forum, one guy got in touch and said he was a software developer and I got very excited that someone else wanted to get involved that could do more than programme hangman in Javascript...badly. But he hasn't got back to me.
The communications officer from the health charity is going to get in touch with me, I'd like this to have their backing.
But I have no clue about getting a forum up and running really...If my programming friend does a runner to HealthUnlocked I guess it's a template. I have made tentative enquiries to various people who I think would be good Mods who are currently in the forum, but I don't know what to tell them if they ask: How much time do you expect me to commit?/What EXACTLY do I do?
I moderated a uni study group and it mainly consisted of contacting people who wanted to join but missed the membership questions or ticking agreeing to the T&Cs and not much else.
Some of the people in this forum can have strong opinions. I know I cant stop them from joining a new forum, this isn't a forum for Christine's friends.
I don't even know how many mods and admins I need and I have a horrible feeling I may end up doing an awful lot myself.
I'm sorry for coming back when I needed something, but any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
P.S. Don't say 'run' its gone too far for that.
