Hi Folks,
I was clearing out a rarely used email account of mine when I found the email announcing the closure of UKHippy, and it prompted me to check in and let everyone know I'm still alive!
Some of you might remember me from the original iteration of UKH, before the rebrand and the 2nd version (which I don't think I ever posted much on), so a hello to any of you still here
I'm still very much a "difficult character" as someone one described me in the day, but the difference now is that I'm more or less comfortable with who I am. I won't say all has gone to plan in the last few years... my escape from Blighty to Scandinavia is still on hold, so I'm just grafting and biding my time. Apart from heading over there as much as I can, I've not been travelling so much like I used to. The old van was supposed to be getting some much needed restoration work done - the mechanic was doing it in his spare time, and in two and a half years he's not done a lot (in fact it looks WORSE!), and now I need to shift it back home as he's retiring and the garage is getting flattened for a supermarket in the New Year
It's not all bad though, I'm keeping myself busy between things like my day job, tinkering around with stuff, dolls, astronomy and being a general pain in the backside
I'm somehow still in a 7 year long distance relationship, don't know who the mad one is between us. Oh, and I reckon I've sussed out a lot of my issues with poor self-esteem/body image - a combo of finding some skeletons in the family closet, and the realisation that I was suppressing a big part of my personality - I came out to a few people as non-binary/genderfluid during lockdown! Don't worry about personal pronouns etc., just call me whatever you want
Anyway, hope to catch up with a few people. I might be around a bit, but no guarantees as the last few months have made me a real social hermit!

That's actually a doll - my muse, photographic model and general emotional support! IIRC that was taken at a very precarious angle off of a rusting fire escape. Once I work out how to do photos on here I might share one or two (SFW) ones.
