£30??? is that what they charge for entry now?
Stonehenge lost all meaning for me once it was commercialised, I prefer Avebury that has more magic than Stonehenge ever had.

The only time that it feels like something special for me is either at the winter solstice or when you can sneak upto the stones in the dead of the night and play ninja with the security guards :-)

If English Heritage wanted to make something of unsung hero's theyd have been better off projecting NHS staff who have passed away with Covid.

Avebury has no onroad parking now, yellow lines everywhere and the Nat Trust carpark was either £12 or £14 for my box as my membership had lapsed (O/H was member and I had free access as a carer / wheelchair pusher). Got talking to the staff there berating cost and parking and ended up rejoining, £6 / month but free access now to loads of places and park-ups.

Down Cornwall I get a ticket on arrival at a regular area that I use in the evening when the attendants are still there and then another about 0600. The carpark gets a commission even though I don't need to get tickets. I don't kick the ass out of it unlike some shitbags who don't pay but just drive out when the staff arrive which really annoys them. Been going there for some 40yrs and they love the kids.

It's alway worth chatting to them as they're on their own a lot of the day and are usually a good source of what's happening locally and have a water tap.
