I persoanlly will be sad to see it go,and it feels like he does mean in this time.
I know that some people on here crossed swords with him once or twice,but I always liked the dude and I appreciate all the work that he did keeping the forum going for as long as he did. He also tries to use it as a platform to share good morals and do his bit towards helping the planet.
I met most of you lovely lot over there and have had some good fun too so I thought that it was worth mentioning here so that you can say your goodbyes to anyone over there or get their contacts.
I have mentioned in his shoutbox about putting up a thread about this place,but wil not do so until he says that he is ok with that as that is the correct thing to do.
It would be a shame for the good people that are left over there if they lose contact with us all so hopefully we can guide them this way within the rules of respect for paul and his achievements.
I say a big thank you to Paul.

There were some real good folks across there whose posts I miss but also some complete and utter tossers which is why I stopped going there, too many bad vibes and Paul after banning some good folk just let them run.

Sad to see it going, met lots of good folk through the other place. Shame it had to end, but as said, not much traffic there lately. Good luck to Paul for the future. Glad we got this place now, so we still have a community....

When was this announced? There was a sudden spike of 4000 visitors a few days ago.
I haven't been over there for about a year.

Sorry guys,
I will make a longer, more explanatory post a little bit later, but after 15 years of tweaking, programming, designing, moderating and managing, I'm quite frankly exhausted and I am going to close this website.
I'm sure some of you will be asking whether anything can done to save this corner of the web -- but it's a conversation we've had many times over -- and the time has come when I need to throw in the towel and call it a day.
The fact that we've been on lockdown and home for most of the year -- and the site is still dead -- is probably the biggest giveaway of all.
I'll probably make a bigger post about this later, but if there's anyone you wish to swap contact details with, I'll keep things running for just a little longer so you can make arrangements.
A couple of points...
1. The site is probably not up for grabs; this was my vision and I've put a lot of my own personality into this over the years -- and while I wasn't the sole creator (the other admin left years ago), the graphics, design, layout, help files and so on were all my work. As such I don't want my visions to be mixed with anyone else's vision.
2. If you've donated money since the start of this month I will refund you if you wish (details to follow) -- the bill is due, but I plan to cancel the contract with the webhost before the next one.
I've turned off my own profile and messages for now, and I ask that, unless you already know me on Facebook etc. then please do not contact me through social media -- it isn't personal, I just want to get some rest. :sleep:

I will not private mail anyone until I have got pauls blessing as until it is a hundred percent certain that would be a bit cheeky. I would offer thuis site the same levels of integrity and loyality :-)

Wouldn't it be nice if paul was to be as honourable as you IT? That just says it's mine, and nobody else is going to have it.
Didn't UK Hippy have a facebook page?
When UK Hippy closes, google will offer this forum in results. That's what happened last time.

Quite right Pete, if it was not for ukhippy.com and paul then this forum would not exist and we all would of missed out on getting to know each other and learn and share lots of good info. I think that he deserves credit for his efforts and like he says " let bygones be bygones" I hope others will be equally as mature. Albeit not too often ;-)
The hope and mature comment is not aimed at any one person I hasten to add !!

I have just posted a thank you paul thread over there,and I ask you all ( apart from anyone who are banned :-) ) to take a moment to say thank you or goodbye. His efforts did bring most of us together and I think that he deserves a fair well from us. xx

I take it back (now I have got over the shock of the link), at least paul isn't just leaving all his members high and dry. That I will thank him for.
Edit just to add I am sure paul is already a member here, so I am sure he's already been here and read the whole forum.
