In Manchester, students are being prevented from leaving by security. Some students there said they were getting ready to go out on Friday night when they looked outside to see security guards and police, who told them they could not leave.
Whilst everybody knew there would be outbreaks of covid 19 when the students travelled back to uni, locking them into halls of residence is a bit strong.
First-year Joe Byrne said: "We have had no warning, support or advice from the university about how we get food etc, and instead have been left completely in the dark and practically locked up against our will."
Snowflake students who can't look after themselves? Or do they have a point?

If they were at home, they would be forced to go to their minimum wage jobs, mostly customer facing jobs in retail and fast food. It appears corona virus only attacks people at leisure, not those making money for someone else.
To be honest, if they really not allowed to leave the building, it's false imprisonment. It does say the police were there. Even during full lockdown, you were allowed out to buy food and go for exercise. Could there be a bit of exaggeration on the part of the students?
Even the new app is dodgy, though I think they say they have fixed the problem with registering NHS tests.
I've seen all sorts of comments about problems, Vannie, it only works on newer phones apparently, it drains batteries quickly, some are reporting getting a virus just after downloading it (I don't know if that's irony? Lol) and some saying that it just doesn't work. Also it means bluetooth being on all the time which leaves you open to other things, apparently (I don't have a smart phone so the bluetooth stuff is a bit over my head) but yep, it seems to be yet another very costly system that doesn't do what it's supposed to.
