My lot were from Clackmannan and before that the West, Strathlachlan area whereas some came from Perthshire, poacher/gamekeepers and worse. One got cashiered for marrying an Indian whereas another was a cowboy in Buffalo Bills circus and I believe ended up living in Canada.

Im registered on a couple but stopped bothering to search because they keep asking for money to reveal more facts and im not into that game. I already know im part of a mix of Scottish Irish English Italian German and Norwegian ancestry but most immediately Anglo Italian and some descendents (Irish)went to Australia and to US and Canada because some wealthy American with my surname spent his retirement researching and had already traced the ancestry back to the 13 th century and got in touch in the 80's after hed seen my mums name in a magazine article. He sent me a copy of what hed pieced together of family tree. Its a lot easier to trace ancestry these days on internet but it will cost you both time,(big time) and money. The biggest data base is owned by the mormon church, they have copies of virtually all records from around the world but off hand i cant remember which ancestry company they own. You can find a lot out from any of the free ones listed here familyhistorydaily.com/genealogy-resources/50-free-genealogy-sites/

most of my heritage is pure North Devon but there was an influx of Hugonaughts back in the mists of time.

My mum had the blood test done and to her surprise she is mostly of Irish ancestry. Many of her late relatives lived in Dumfries that is not that far from Ireland.

It’s difficult because none of mine had birth certificates , my parents did but before them not. My mum was definitely Irish.

Over the pandemic I have used ancestry to trace my family history and as a result I now have a collection of Birth, Marriage and death certificates in an album as a sort of time line of family history, showing when people I am related to lived, what they did in life and when they left this world.
