Go on, I'll bite! Why? I would just add, one of the reasons we went mobile was because we had four dogs, and didn't want to take them to some flat or house, even if we could. In case you were wondering, two lurchers and two terriers at the time.

I have a collie, a spaniel and an akita. All excellent travelling companions. Got some birds, too, but they are another story.

sorry for not answering in awhile. i,ve been avoiding the t'interweb for a bit. in the meantime i have changed my opinion. now i;m considering the merits of a laying chicken and a jack russel pup. (size matters)

Those little nodding dogs that you glue to the dash are quite good, cheap to feed and never need the vets,so maybe worth giving one of them a go !! xx

I've had JRTs since I was young at home. Be aware they do like to kill stuff.

I've had JRTs since I was young at home. Be aware they do like to kill stuff. Including household pets like chickens, or in my place, a crow who had been living with me for four years. Crow was absolutely tame, loved dogs, but my collie let a rescue jr dog into the room where she was, and although the jrt had been living with me (and Crow) a while, it ripped her to shreds. This took my heart out, though it was not the dog's fault. Little Sam was rehomed, and had I been able to rehome the collie who enabled him, i would have done so.

Sorry to hear that @corvus1. The JRT I had at home got hold of vanman's sister's budgie when I visited. He flew a bit too near, though he survived.

It broke my heart, I love all my birds, and dogs; but Crow was special, she taught me so much ❤️. If I'd been able to re-home all my dogs at that point I would have done so, even innocent Sammie. It was hard to look after them properly for a long time, I knew it was not their fault, but could barely look at them. We're cool now, though.
