Todays simple pleasure - Two thick slices of home baked granary bread, two home laid fried eggs, and, drumroll, delicious kippers.
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed my lunch in the sunshine today.

A couple of bottles of buckwheat beer for me and chilling out listening to some nice youtube tunes. Been a long and none productive afternoon trying to sort out getting back to the uk so have slipped into simple pleasure mode now so that my day finishes on a smile. Very important as that helps me wake up with a smile too :-)

Sorry to hear about your afternoon, great idea to end the day on a positive note. I had a good day transplanting peas and beans. Mrs Boaty had a idea today, she suggested that I cut fresh willow to use as the sticks to support the plants instead of using the sticks I cut and dried last year - I said "but what if it grows ?" Mrs B says "then you plant the sticks out where we need the new willow" ( I've been planning to grow some more ). Why didn't I think of that ?

But just be aware that although willows aren’t strongly allopathic (= exuding chemicals from roots to inhibit other plants growing too close to them) I don’t know if some plants are more affected then others. Might be worth having one section with willow and another section with dead sticks, just in case - and it’ll be interesting to hear if there is any difference!

Interesting about brassicas been allelopathic to fungal pathogens , as it says on mycroniser (sp) root stimulant that it doesnt work on brassicas . I have planted a lot of french marigold amongst the tomatoes in the polytunnle for its hopefully benificial properties . They look nice anyway

The companion plants list link is worth looking at,it takes advantage of allelopathic characteristics and natural weed and insect repellents. I know it all works ive never used herbicide or insecticides in my gardens - when i had one.

I never use chemicals as I am poorganic . I can't afford dem chemicals if I wanted them , and it would be cheating anyway Weeds get the hoe and naughty insects get chickened/squashed/netted /discouraged etc . In fact hoeing is one of my simple pleasures . I hoe like a mother fucker when ever I can .
