Cris, do you mind if I copy and paste the info in that to send to a friend in the US? She is making her own masks just out of paper towels and fabric scraps around the house. I get that it might give you a psychological boost but I've told her that won't keep her germ free and she's not convinced. Do you mind if I send her what you wrote? I'll take out the username bit at the top, obviously. If you wish, but as Bernie said theyre not infallible. Virus particles are incredibily small and will pass through many filters and can be absorbed via your eyes too. The only proper protection is a biological respirator mask the military would use and they are incredibily uncomfortable to use continuously,or a pressurised enclosed head mask that are super expensive. The best protection is isolation and distancing. If masks were totally effective there wouldnt be thousands of doctors and nurses infected with the virus. Yes, absolutely agree, I've sent her some articles I found online about masks not working but she seems quite convinced that she'll be alright as she won't be in close contact for long and I'm worried about her. I'll send it in the hope she takes note and stays home! Thank you

Yeah, we too are not finding it a hassle. Plus, I have made new trousers for summer and am waiting on fabric coming for a dress! Happy days! We have all got to find some positivity from isolation for the sake of our mental health if nothing else. Definitely nice to have something you made and Corona Virus clothes sounds great! I've finally started researching my dad's family history properly; I've wanted to do it for years and had found a few bits and pieces but never really had the time. And now I have! My half brother and I compared notes and discovered we've both got different dates of birth for our dad, although we are sure he is the same man. I'm hoping I can turn up an unclaimed fortune or a sprawling Irish estate or something lol x

She wont be getting kicked off now Also if you are ever taking a wee holiday in Arbroath AVOID THE SEATON CAMP SITE FOR THEY ARE SCUM

Under the current emergency laws no one can be evicted from caravan sites or encampments if what they live in is their primary residence. Landlords or site owners would be breaking the law.

Any reason why they were kicking her off?... Caravan parks have been ordered to close I believe. They have in Cornwall, I know because I have the Cornwall Live app on my phone. Places like Newquay are telling all motorhomes, caravans and "adapted vehicles"to move on or face prosecution. Repeat offenders risk having the vehicles impounded.

The virus spreads in airborne droplets so if theyre on surfaces there is a risk. General use Surgical facemasks dont protect the wearer from airborne germs, theyre for preventing the wearer sneezing coughing or breathing on a patient. Thats why care staff in isolation units wear positive pressure headgear. You need quite sophisticated full face masks that filter gram-negative bacteria or virus to counter airborne pathogens. Pathogens can be breathed in, ingested by mouth or absorbed via mucosa (your eye tear ducts are an entry way, hence why goggles or face shields are worn.) Antibacterial spray will kill most hard surface infections. Hospitals usually use Antibacterial hand cleaners like hibiscrub. If its a contact spread pathogen then any handle, shopping trolley, food surface, money etc would be a risk....but for now it appears the biggest risk is airborne transmission between people in close proximity. To be honest there's bee a fair bit of traffic to our Covid19 threads, found through google and MSN.

Theyve all been told to close but they cant move people who have no alternative primary home, they can only send home people who have a house or primary home and currently staying at second home. They cant evict anyone, even on established unlawful encampments,if they try then councils have to find suitable alternative arrangements. Same for houseboats.

That's why I asked, unless she's done something naughty she should be safe if she actually lives there...

Thanks, Vannie, I do like to check it's okay if I can, only because I've seen things I've posted in forums (not this one) pop up on Facebook and once in the comments sections of a newspaper article! It always makes me feel a bit uncomfortable so I like to check first. I think she's done what I was trying to get her not to do now anyway but I have sent stuff to her; hopefully she won't do it again xx
