I knew of a case in Lombardia as my friend who is an Ambulance Dr told me. I think the 16 in one day is as much a surprise to them as us.

16 cases could well mean a potential 160 infected who haven't come to notice yet and west to France or north to the Swiss. One case gives you a chance to track down all contacts but that number all at once will be a logistical nightmare.

Theres 2500 Chinese due to return to Tuscany.
The first case had not been to China,he had apparently had dinner with someone who had last week.

There's many 1000s going to return to all parts of the world. The New Year could be the start of a new era. Oil prices have slumped due to them not stealing what they do for the 'Chinese machine' but I know that we won't see a price drop. New cases in Spain, thought I saw news of an outbreak there but looked at something else first but on going back couldn't find it and I'm sure it was the same as Italy. Time will tell.

Cases have slowed in Wuhan only because its in lockdown.Outside China its spreading.Four have now died in Iran.
I think the virtual radio silence here is theyre terrified of panic. Italians are already panicking on social media.

It'll be interesting to see if the beeb reports the Lombardy lot. Somehow I don't think that they will. There'll be a late kneejerk reaction to something that they could have said about and got peeps prepared for.

Nothing on BBC or in the mornings UK papers. RAI news Italian main news network reporting 1 dead,15 new cases,5 of them doctors. The death accirding to another newspaper was a 78 yr old.Also critical is a 67 yr old woman. Also 36 new cases today in Beijing. www.rainews.itUpdated : its now 19 confirmed cases. 10 Italian municipalities have ordered closure of schools and all public venues and events. Now country with largest number of cases in Europe. Nothing on BBC or Saturday papers. |

The EU governments and ours are putting economies before people. They're not so much afraid of any Ukrainian stoning of refugees occurring here just the collapse of countries which are failing. The WHO for what they're worth still won't say 'pandemic'.

Just been on the phone to local BBC newsreader and asked why the BBC is suppressing the info.............she's only allowed to put out what London tells her to and the Lombardy lot has not been mentioned. London might be holding back but she wasn't. I got fckd off PDQ at that and I dare say the operator who gave me her direct number will be getting a bollocking.
