Government says 'act like you have the virus' I guess thats reasonable,a bit like acting like you have a Government thats in control and knows what its doing www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55598918Sadly there's too much complacency over something that's so potentially dangerous. Had to charge the van battery this morning before taking Jnr for his walk in a wood 2 miles down the road and whilst outside I noted that nearly all of the passing traffic was old folks, old couples heading towards town.
Went to the wood where there was nobody else about at all whereas there is a nearer wood which I now avoid due to the amount of arseholes who don't understand what seperation distance is, families mixing with other families and loads with Brummie/Black Country accents who would have travelled some 20 miles to get there from highly infected areas.

Since I chucked the lass from up the road from out of my bubble I see nobody. My kids will drop a bag of shopping off at my door but not stop to chat which is reasonable, itβs too cold to stand outside at a distance and shiver.
When I walk the dogs I see plenty of cars too, but it is all younger folk, I imagine that they have no option but to go to work. Those who ignore all the restrictions like Typhoid Mary up the road have not had direct experience of the virus, it is invisible so does not exist. They do not care that they are probable super-spreaders, when I told the lass that I was not in her bubble any longer , she got very cross and just said that she isnβt ill. *shrugs*. She is not stupid and Iβm sure that she knows perfectly well that observable illness is not the criteria but until she or someone she has infected becomes seriously ill, she will choose to believe that it is not a threat.

Can anyone guess at how this shitstorm will finally play out. If peeps played by the rules and stuck to them it would be far less painful but any governemnt trying to secondguess the right path has my sympathy, it's new, nobody can say what's coming and hindsight by turds is a wonderful thing so all joepublic can do is try and stay safe and keep our heads down. No easy answer except commonsense and even that is doubtful.

Weve had this vaccine priority on the other thread Some good news though Dovedale seems a world away, even a solo jolly won't be happening until summer is over which is really pissing me off as I can't see lockdowns being lifted for some time.
However optimistically 200,000 a day is said it doesnt equate to 2 million a week and thats going to take most of the year so they need to ramp up vaccination rates to double or treble their current thinking and although vaccinating the vulnerable to keep them out of hospital that wont stop the covid spreading. They need to target the normally mobile commuting NHS,transport and essential infrastructure workers and those who can't work from home if theyre going to slow its progress. Its getting tiresome reading all the hyped optimistic media fodder that we'll be out of it by spring....la la land. In other words they need to put more effort into reducing the spread via high risk spread vectors such as commuters NHS transport, essential infrastructure, teachers etc ive already mentioned. The essential folks who mingle with each other on a daily basis because of work need to be immune to each other. The priority approach theyve set out so far will take well into summer and beyond to gain control and is only in theory reducing hospital attendance.Yes thats good but there needs to be a dual approach to vaccinating the population. Theres currently over 40k nhs staff off sick with Covid, its of no use if nothing essential functions because of sickness absences.

It stands to reason that those workers, in whatever sphere, who must of necessity mix with other people should get protection first. In theory, if you can't carry it, you can't spread it.
However, there is the interesting point that there is little evidence yet that any of these vaccines prevent people from carrying the virus, and possibly spreading it, although presumably somewhat immune to it themselves.

That wont become clear for some time.In the mean time i think we need to assume the worst, hope for the best. We're more likely to learn how effective the vaccines are by testing people in general daily circulation than tests on shielding vaccinated elderly.

When will you get the vaccine? 1. Mutton 2. Hogget 3. Lamb I'm sure that's the government's plan of order.
