In the Scandinavian countries the Storks return to their winter homes in the late autumn. The human birth rate peaked massively about the same time. Giving clear evidence what they did to pass the time during the winter lock down months. So the coming of the storks coincided with the birth of lots of new babies on their eyes.
So in Viking folklore, new babies were brought by storks

Shame it does not bring quieter ones that do not shit themselves with evil and vile smells. Whoever it was who said that all babies look like winston churchill was pretty close to the truth.

I like storks though despite of their efforts to destroy tranquility on this beautiful planet xx
