We went to see an ELO tribute band last night. A good night but that's not the reason for my post. £8 for a glass of wine in the bar before the show started. That sounds pretty normal, Bernie, I've got friends who regularly spend £££ in the pub, the prices baffle me but a lot think they're normal. A friend's partner went on a stag do to some pub in London where the 'craft ales' were £12 a pint! We just don't buy anything when we're out ordinarily, someone said to me you're paying for the 'ambience' apparently, but I have a perfectly nice ambience in my head and I don't need to pay for it lol. We saw a good ELO tribute a few years back, I wonder if it's the same one? No idea how many of them are around. Probably hundreds lol.

We've got a garden pheasant and I can't work out where she hides. I put her breakfast out, go back inside and look out of the window and she's already there so obviously very close by, but for the life of me I can't see her when I go out. So I think today I might be a pheasant tracker Lol

Glad you enjoyed the show but wine would have stayed in the bottle for me at that price. You can get a reasonable bottle full for that. Thats one of the reasons i dont go anywhere bc the only thing youre gauranteed at most places is to be ripped off.

Wow! I'd expect a couple of bottles for that! Yes i was thinking that. Before the thieving criminals in government put up drink duty to apparently save us from ourselves and alcohol I could have got at least 3 bottles Italian for £8. The joys of thieving rip-off Britain. 🥳

Last time i went London 8 years ago they wanted a tenner a pint so we walked out and i took my friend to a little hidden bookshop i know that does tea or coffee and biccies or cake for a lot less. What a country to grow up in now where getting robbed everywhere is the default setting.

We're not far from a pheasant farm here so we get quite a few over the winter but none of them have ever got close or hung around for long. I'm no closer to working out where our visitor hides in the mornings lol

Bloody cat will be after them though lol, I have seen these anti bird collars that are supposed to be good, basically a big and brightly coloured ruffle that has the quick release thingy on it, apparently birds see bright colours first so they get an extra second or two to get away. I've cut down all the big bushes he was hiding under and that seems to have helped. He does quite often come in with bird poo on him so I think they've got their own way of putting him off lol.

Everything is so much more, Grace, I am trying to get into making more from scratch (bread and cakes, for example). Not that it's necessarily cheaper but it's better quality and just not full of rubbish. I have started ordering from the milkman now and I'm going to start getting one of those veg box deliveries. I stopped doing all that quite a long time ago because everything got so much more expensive but I find my supermarket shop now is both expensive and poor quality. At least it used to be cheap and not so good. So if I've got to spend a bit I'd rather it went on better quality stuff and to independent producers (although not our local grocer, it's incredibly expensive in there and the quality's not good either. Local butcher is pretty good, though). I have been looking around at those left over/don't throw it away type schemes; we're not near enough to one to use regularly but times we're out and about it would probably be worth me using whichever one is in the area. Anyway, all that waffle is to basically say yes, I agree! I do try to channel my inner Vannie but I just don't have her freebie and bargain seeking skills, she is Olympic athlete levels lol
