We have been to Mevagissey today for a walk or at least that was the plan but the wind off the sea was like needles in your face so we ended up in a bar drinking coffee by the fire. Some fishermen were getting their boats ready to go out and I thought they are either to be admired or pitied. It's a hard life but we forget just how harsh the sea can be.

Nice post Bernie ... good to be reminded of real homegrown, home sourced food. I remember holidays in Port Gaverne and Port Isaac ... where me dad bought mackerel straight off the boats ... back when food tasted of sommat. I reckon the most appropriate thought might be "RESPECT" ... there are still folk prepared and kitted out to go do the job ... not working on big factory ships emptying the seas of fish and processing and freezing and packing the creatures direct for the big food chains. Your post prompted me to have a look see if Cornish mackerel could be purchased direct, or at least more directly .... more expensive than the 1.05p tins from the Co-op ... but well - maybe would be really savoured and appreciated ..... interesting anyway ... to be reminded about how far from the true cost of things, my buying habits have become ... lazy ... irresponsible ... feckless ... mebbe time to walk the talk Jenn
Appreciate the nudge ... ta

Morning was not so great as doing the vac with out shake while sunshine sniggered, but set off into the wilderness at 1.30 pm and only came back out at 5.10pm .I blame Bumpy , we new there was a pub on the other side and we all felt knacked when we got there even though it was down hill . 600ft in 2 miles. Pint of 'old fandango cider n packet of crisps, return journy went tits up , we missed a critical turning because we went of piste cos Bumpy was frolocking in the flooded meadow .then the sun went in and it started pissing down . Bumpy soaking wet frolocker sniggered till he saw 600 ft we still needed to go up!Long short fucking wet tired and happily expired in front of fire with report of Ma so horizon with fish n chips. Ram.

Walked nosy Rosie round the woods , she fucked off chasing a muntjac. Shouting at top of my voice , thankfully she come back. I've seen serious damage to dogs from muntjac. Rosie is to gentle for a fight with.one of them.

Muntjac have tusks, and aren't afraid to use them.

Today I got up way too early so that I could drive over to my daughter's to take her kids to school, both at different destinations. Dear Daughter had surgery on Monday to fix a hernia, can't drive so I was roped in. I am a late riser usually so it's been killing me, what was worse is that she insisted I drive her car as it has kiddie seats; AND SHE SAT AND TOLD ME HOW TO DRIVE. This is a woman who would not let me even sit in the car as a passenger for years, without covering the seat to protect it; needless to say I was a bag of nerves, lol. 😂 Still, I have the next two days off, she is far more at home with my generally scruffy demeaner, and I'm happy enough to help out.

There one of the few things that make our dogs loose it , their bark (munties) is quite distinctive, but they seem pretty timmid unless bothered . they seem on the increase round here , but all deer are! Prolly best not to piss with the Roe/fallow either, though Bumpy and Ringpull think there boring. Boar are boring too compared with Munt posse.

Had to take four dogs to the vets after tackling a muntjac to get stitched up. Had to dispatch with the muntjac and went well in the pan. That was over20 years ago and I'd rather avoid such situations now. Rosie is too gentle for these fights, she chased a stag a few months ago and thankfully come back. She looks hard but is really gentle and gorgeous.
