in all fairness maggie, most people just have normal furniture to move, not tons of stuff Yup. And for this reason, when they came round offering insulation, I turned them down I explained that I live in the bus, which is actually where the bloke sat and told me that I ould get the house done, and explained that while it's a nice thought, the house is used for storage including other peoples' junk and they would not be able to do the work. I then showed them around, as they seemed to think it would be fine. This was when I was promised the use of a man and van to get rid of things, which sounded like a dream come true to me, so I jumped at the chance. The man and van didn't turn up, and although I had explained that my strength/health is limited, I ended up today doing a lot of heavy lifting, which I'll have to repeat over the next few days. I have an autoimmune disorder which you can't see looking at me, but I know the effect this will have on me, I'm stuck with things how they are though at present. It is what it is.

Sounds about right Maggie, the twats promise you the world in return for the contract then once you sign the contract they come up with duck all except excuses. Strangely tho, the bastards expect you to keep to your word.....š Wish I could help in some way.

Don't worry BB. It's a kind thought, but a month from now I'll have forgotten all about it. They've knocked off for the day and gone home. Left one of my lightswitches wired up to the mains but not attached to the wall, sitting in the garden. Front door open! š®

Any nearer to sorting Iris? Nah. When I spoke to him yesterday, he asked when I'm going away. He knows perfectly well as we've had this discussion several times. I said Thursday, as I like to tell him an earlier time, knowing he will do the work but be late. That is how I was unable to make Dovedale last August. I'm guessing from his past form, he will ring on Friday, ask again which day I'm traveling, and I'll tell him that I'm already a day late. He will then get his arse in gear and either turn up Friday and do it, or possibly Saturday morning, moaning all the time about how busy he is. Forgetting that I will be paying him good money and that he is not doing a favour for a mate. š

Good luck with it anyway hope you can get it sorted. You'd think people would be glad of a bit of paying work at the minute....

The top pic with the rolls of insulation is my kitchen, the other two my parlour, in which the front door opens straight into my garden. I can't actually get into either room, just have to squeeze through to get to the aviary. The upstairs is the same. Surprisingly most of that isn't my stuff, but it's how they left it at 3.30 when they clocked off. I couldn't cook, or sit, or sleep in the house even if I didn't have Iris to fall back on. The birds cannot sleep in their cages in the house, there's nowhere for the dogs to lie down. There are building supplies on my bed and the one decent, expensive, carpet in the house is trashed. Considering they consider me a little old lady, living alone with crazy animals, I wonder how they expect me to manage. I have my musical instruments in Iris so can't sit at the table, and I fell and gave my knee a good wallop. All in all, life is throwing brickbats at me at present. Good job I have inner resources. š

And they disconnected my fridge yesterday, so much of my food is spoiled. I can't get to it to rescue, or even access the food anyway.
