i had not even considered before that people ,well not many ,only wore stuff once. All my stuff comes from charity shops or "clean"skips, thats all, rugs, boots, cushions, pans, plates etc,not just clothes.Even all my wonderful beloved hounds have always been unwanted cast offs..Underwear is the only exception and matresses ,except the hound s have always had charity shop cot mattresses.Even if i was rich ,the thought of spending lots of money on posh clothes seems weird.Did buy new tie dye leggings, then never wore them as didnt want to wreck them.Everything i have gets brambled or holed somehow. Why dont people put stuff in recycling or charity shops?

I do that with my clothes too Cricket! Got some new joggers & a few new t-shirts stashed away so I don't fuck am up, & everything I wear is patched stitched & fucked beyond comprehension! Just can't seem to justify using decent gear...

Same here cricket. BUT look in the charity shop bins and you would be amazed at what they throw away. Much of the clothing donated gets sold in bulk by weight. Only a very small percentage gets put in the actual shop. Bedlinen too. Electrical goods get binned as they have to be tested.

when we bought our washing machine(Curry's) we were told the average machine was built to last either 3 years or 1000 washes whichever came first, if you had one that lasted longer than that you were lucky, so far 5 years and counting.

Am I the only fashion icon on here then, Dahlinks? π
Nah, seriously my clothes are rags, and my washing machine is 17 years old. I keep managing to coax a few more washes out of it, but it won't do anything biggish, or heavy.

As i said above, my clothes are rags, it doesn't seem important to me as there isn't a person in the world who gives a damn what I look like. Or so I thought.
My son just turned up with a bag of clothes his mum in law was throwing out, and did I mind dropping them off at the charity shop next time I'm in town.
Her thrown out clothes mysteriously consist of three pairs of jeans in my size, a couple of sweaters, a tee shirt and a couple of fleeces, also my size. You may not be surprised to know that Evelyn is nowhere near my size. Nor does she wear jeans. One of the 'old' jumpers and the tee shirt still have the labels on from the supermarket. π
This is very handy as I was looking at my two pairs of leg coverings (one pair of jeans and one pair of work trousers). Both pairs held together with cable ties, I was starting to think they were two awful even for me. π
I saw my daughter this week, I thought that I had tidied myself up sufficiently to pass in polite company, but apparently not. She must have been straight on the phone to her brother, having the, "What shall we do about mum?", conversation . Bless them, I now have some decent clothes which should last me for a good while. π

the thing is when your kids start worrying about you...β¦
my oldest son made me promise to him that I wouldn't buy another motorbike, and he knows I wont break a direct promise. I resented it but I recognised it was done with love
They are telling you something though and its best to listen

I yearn for another old bike.Only thing is now I feel the need to wait until I am less of a priority, just in case I get mashed.
