I don't like it at all, in fact I would rather not think about it to be honest.

It certainly will not involve animal welfare ...
I try to make sure anything I buy is not tested on animals. Like cleaning products ...

The reason I don't like to think about it is because I know all new drugs and surgical procedures have to be tested on animals before they can be tested on humans. That not an easy choice to balance

Actually, I'm under the impression that a) animals are not always a good substitute for humans b) lab culture of human and other tissue is now possible and c) computer based modelling / testing are all viable alternatives.

I agree Stone road , animals are not humans , so its not accurate to test stuff on them , let alone the ethics ! There also seem to be plenty of humans happy to be paid to have tests done on them .

Some might try and justify testing on animals for human medicines and I think its very wrong but poaching nearly extinct creatures for the sake of pretend medcines for the far east gets my blood boiling to dangerous for my health levels !

Most scientific consensus is theres little value in animal testing since most species except pigs and chimpanzees are totally dissimilar to our own species and produce inconclusive variable results.
I think most scientists gkobally are moving away from.animal testing but the UK is determined to reverse this trend and resume widescale testing for all kinds of reasons.
I think its pretty clear this government lost its moral compass some years ago but seems to be accelerating down the road of total immorality.
Ive just posted an article about the government campaign to slaughter 170,000 wild birds on another thread.
This government needs to go ASAP.
