The price of a stamp is going up. A first class stamp will go up by 3p to 70p, and a second class stamp will go up by 3p to 61p. Am I the only one that still thought it was about 20 or 30p? It just goes to show how few stamps I have bought! I'm still using the book of stamps that I found about three years ago! Will it be a good idea to buy a book of those that say First and avoid the increase?

But if you didn’t have the internet, how else would you get a letter/card from one end of the country to the other? If you had to take it their yourself by car etc, how much would that cost you ? I. Don’t agree with the rise, but if you look at it a different way, it’s not to bad. On the other hand parcels are hugely expensive to post.

I think its good value as it does arrive mostly , unlike a lot of countys , its a legal contract and they are obliged to deliver I got letters delivered to my bender when I lived in the middle of no where .I think it would be a great loss to loose this sevice . The post man we have now is an absolute star !

So if I gave you a letter in Southampton today & said "deliver that to Aberdeen for me please, but it's got to be there in 24 hours" would you do it for 70p? Royal mail is out fuckin standing! End of story....

Don't get me wrong, it's still fair value. My point was the last time I bought a stamp it was about 20p. That was when it still was a crown company! I don't use royal mail that much

The reason for the increase as I see it, is down to The govt asset stripping AGAIN! & selling off all the bits that were making profit to the highest bidder, or to their fuckin cronies. All Royal Mail is left with is the letter post that was always subsidised by the parcel side etc. Now the good return bits are gone, the letters have to pay for themselves now, hence the rise in prices. The only way to keep it going now is economy of scale, 1 letter to scotch at 70p is a no go but 10000 letters at 70p each is a profitable load. If everyone still sent letters instead of using the stupid fuckin internet we'd be ok.(This message is brought to you via the stupid fuckin internet! So sue me😈)

have you noticed how everybody from the Gas Board down is saying "do your bills online", not to mention a paperless option. Let's not forget just how much hard work it is to take that insanely heavy letter all the way to the letter box!

Everything is online now, every bastard department knows everything about you & your life instantly, yet when I recently applied for funding for boy's meals & travel to & from his new college I was told they needed "original documents from last tax year" no copies & must be posted to them before they could process my application. Yet when I set off a fuckin speed camera while driving someone elses van they found me in less than 10 days! Twats!!😡😡😡
