I cancelled my TV licence last year for political and financial reasons and mainly because i just dont watch tv any more but had been "conditioned" to pay it for the last 20 years.
So i had my first visit from a "goon" this week and im shocked at their tactics, telling them you no longer watch live tv (or Iplayer) is not enough they want to come in your house and prove that you dont. i always though it was innocent till proven guilty but it seems the opposite is true here.
I've nothing to hide but im damn sure im not going out of my way to prove my innocence.
Anyone else had a run in with these Morons?

Didn't have a tv for the first 5yrs of marriage, couldn't afford one and I had a number of letters from the licencing twats telling me I needed one. The last one I basically told them to f off and that if they turned up on my doorstep there would be trouble. Never heard anymore and I was expecting hassle when I did finally get one but nothing.
When I did buy a tv within a week the O/H watered a pot plant she'd put on top of it.............. end of for another few weeks.

Bungo's right, they don't have right of entry. Tell them you don't watch TV and that's that. They have no proof.

You cant even eatch iplayer catchup without license now, they log your IP.... So i dont have Iplayer or a TV. TV is garbage anyway, certainly not paying for license for Broadcasting Bullshitting Conservatives.

They send me constant letters then send someone every so often. Letters are addressed "To the legal occupant" as they ain't allowed to hold your personal details on computer any more.
I get one or two letters a month. I either give them to the birds who love shredding such things, or keep them and when a have a bunch of them put stickers over the address part on which I write "no contract return to sender". They get returned to the company who have to then pay for the postage.
This triggers a visit generally. The goon will turn up and if I answer the door to them, pretend to be from a marketing company or something not to do with tvs at all, quite often.
They will address me by name quite often (so much for not keeping your personal details) or ask me if I can confirm that I am Mre. X, to which I always say no, they can't and I won't.
They will try to post their latest written threatogram through my door, and I will physically block the letterbox and tell them politely to leave and take their junk mail with them. That they are trespassing on private property and are to leave and not come back.
It's a game I play when their junk mail threats irritate me too much.

Next thing you'll get one of these on your doorstep
What really pisses me off is that we only pay for the BBC, yes they do turn out some really brilliant programs amongst the repeats of repeats but all other channels are free.

I paid it for over 20 years because it was worth it at one time but im not sure if the rise of alternatives (you tube netflix) like the internet or even playstations has changed how we watch tv or the decline in quality programmes or maybe both.
im fed up of biased one sided reporting, the amount of repeats and the fact that the bbc sell the programmes we pay for to lots of other countries and then keep all the money in a separate company and that include all the dvd sales too.
