I saw this in the News thread Reading the article really pissed me off. Large supermarkets like Tesco contributed to the demise of the high street in a big way. This included Butchers and Delies. Now they are axing their own butchers?? What's that all about?

I know, personally i think hes doing a crazy axe job and I think it will finish Tesco. Why on earth would people go shopping there when whats on offer is complete garbage? Its pretty rubbish shopping there as it is,its my only local supermarket but ill be travelling further and shopping at Aldi or elsewhere.
If they want to save money they should get rid of all the pointless suits in marketing and management.

Seems to me most buisnesses these days have a ratio of 5 managers to every worker and even more managers to manage the managers in a never ending spiral of managers........but nothing gets done, its always someone elses fault and the only consideration is to keep your own job as a manager at any cost to other workers .

We used to be a nation of manufacturers, now all we seem to do is push bits of paper from one place to another. How can moving paperwork around generste the country any income? In my youth we made money by making stuff which we then sold or traded for other stuff we needed. Maybe i'm just a fuckin dinosaur in this technical age,but I just dont get how it works now, why do you need a manager to manage a gang of skins that afren't doing fuck all?...

At least Sainsburys pruned the Managers....seems very stupid getting rid of the skilled trades people that add valuev to the operation on the key counters that attract people Bread Meat Fish and Deli....Customers will just go to other supermarkets where theres good counters and service. Morrisons new store 10 miles from me makes Tesco look like a run down corner shop.
Tesco went right down the pan after Leahy left.

I like my local Morrisons, not the cheapest but has a good choice of stuff & the "Market Street" row of stalls swings it for me everytime!

Perhaps it’ll help put more butchers and fishmongers back on the high street ?

I made a visit to Aldi in Abergavenny yesterday and I thought it was a bit ordinary compared to the ones I am used to .Far too much convenience foods and not enough basics.

Perhaps it’ll help put more butchers and fishmongers back on the high street ? There are 2 decent butchers and 1 real green grocers in Monmouth , but fishmongers seem extinct ! Does anyone here have a fishmonger near them ?
