A shilling is our present day 5p but in old money it was 12 pennies. Two sixpences or 4 threepenny bits to a shilling. Half a crown was two and six (two shillings and sixpence Florin was two shillings (10p) 24 pennies 240 pennies to a pound. You got lots for your money till decimalisation..then the daylight robbery started. You're missing out halfpennies, 24 to the bob and crowns (now 25p) which are still legal tender although you'd most likely save them. Also the brown 10 bob note, that was really something to have as a kid and at that time I cannot remember any note in my home higher than a green quid.
I can vaguely remember the hoohar from shopkeepers when I first used a £20 and folks showing them to others.
Also remember the robbing twunts in shops rounding everything up on decimalisation then adding some too.
I missed a lot out, thats what search engines are for. I think a lot of shop keepers were quick to capitalise on the confusion and rob customers blind and then blame it all on decimalisation if they caught out. Most of us kids were more on the ball than adults. Taught me at an early age that most people were fucking liars and robbers. The only reason they want us on a cashless economy is so they can rob us even more.

My youth era is back in fashion! Makes me feel old. Everyone is wearing 90's You think the 90s is old? I cant think of any really that was particularly unique.Theyre all copied from earlier periods or cultural appropriations. Apart from the few true geniuses, humans arent very imaginative really, but good at (re)inventing things and calling them original.

A man knows he is getting old when he wakes up in the morning and everything is stiff except the bit that's supposed to be!

You go to the garden centre and have a cup of tea as a trip out Oh God, I have actually done this ☹️ me too.with a cup of tea at usually 4 pounds for a teapot with a hot water refill and the cost of fuel to get there and the odds and ends extra you buy when there that's probably about 20 pounds at least in the end. When watching trees grow is free that's a lot of money and worthy to be called a trip out.

It constantly amazes me the price we are willing to pay for hot water and a tea bag! Take a flask and go sit by a river. Garden centres are one of my pet hates but my OH loves them, to me they are just ridiculous prices for tat, who pays over a thousand pounds for a barbeque FFS?
