Yes,cant come soon enough,I hate the long dark nights....its worse if you live up in the Hebrides I know that much (but not as bad as in the arctic circle)
Nice to celebrate solstice and yule though.And soon be time to make Norwegian Yule Kake (not cake its spiced bread actually) also called julebrød

Yes indeeed cris , I once spent solstice way on up in the artic circle so I could watch the northern lights clearly and there was a moment of about half an hour where the sky lightened a tiny bit then it went black again. Great to experience bet would not want a quarter of my year in complete darkness.
I shall be up in the pyranees on the France-spain-Andorra border this solstice and shall visit an old menhir just up above vicdessos in the ariege pyranees. Hopefully not too much snow up there this year,but the roads around that area are well looked after and cleared. They block the road off a little higher as to stop people going too far into the mountains and getting stuck there for a few months !!

Coming up half five here and plenty of light left,even in this hill fog. The mornings do appear to be taking time to change though,but that will happen soon enough. onlt 7 weeks until equinox ;-)
