There have always been sharks off the coast of Britain, even when I was young there were shark fishing boats in Cornish ports offering day trips. Closer to home, the common dogfish, "Rock Salmon in the chip shop" is a small member of the shark family.

Only went shark fishing once out of Mousehole. Didn't catch aught but another did and it wasn't released, just killed and to end up not for the table but as pot bait. Wouldn't have bothered if I'd known. Beautiful creature and a waste of life.

I used to drive the van for the fishmonger in Reading... He occasionally had porbeagle shark in, which came from the south west... Bloody lovely deep fried in cubes, or in a nice green curry....

Blackpool activists jailed for anti-fracking protestSaw this earlier, They are the first people to receive jail sentences for an anti-fracking protest in the UK. One was a soil scientist, one a teacher and one a piano restorer. It's crazy really as Lancashire council had already refused consent to start drilling but the government apparently have over ruled it.
