Vannie, I agree. Unfortunately I also agree with Bernie and Cris that it's probably fairly standard now. She already had the surgery where we lived before, for the same problem. It cost a fortune (for me, anyway), long term pain relief wasn't mentioned as an option and I was under the impression that the surgery would sort the problem for good - they didn't tell me it would just come back in other areas. If I'd known I'd have gone for the pain relief instead. I think it can cause problems over a long period - kidney, I think she said - but she's an elderly cat so I think pain free for a period of time before saying goodbye is better than repeated surgeries. It's quite depressing that you can't really trust anyone anymore. There is another vet that runs a scheme via Cats' Protection so you get a discount so I might switch to them instead. It's bad isn't it, ethics just seem to have vanished now. She's happy as she is for the time being anyway x

Anything to do with pets is a scam, theres always the ever present subliminal and pervasive emotional blackmail...no matter how dedicated you are to the animals welfare youre always talked down to like youre an amateur and potentially neglectful and 'of course you must do whats right' but if they sense you cant afford the standard mega bills its same day euthanasia on the menu ASAP ' we couldnt let you take the animal home that would be terribly cruel, not in the animals interests etc etc.
Ive just looked into pet cremation as my one cat is getting tottery and 'starts from £165' average for a cat is £195...but dont think you can escape the cost with a small hamster - £145 It cost me £185 about 6 years ago to cremate my giant breed dog and then cats cremations were around £35.
But 'of course you want to do the right thing' because that would mean you dont care about your pets remembrance enough...and why not have a proper bespoke funeral and burial qith own stone and tree and what about a pawprint memento for £90 FFS..
Sad fact of life that anything to do with pets, equestrian interests or children and its Kerching!!!..heres another mega bill for you.

The government has decide Covid is all over and the Covid19 is closing on April 27. www.gov.uk/guidance/nhs-covid-19-app-accessibility?But No doubt theyll be launching a new app through which you can report the offense of being homeless and sleeping rough and the despicable offence of being visible in the street to a rich person..

Ah sorry to hear your kitty may be coming to their end now, it's so sad and like you say you always want to do your best by them. It is all so expensive, I recently paid for my brother's dog to be cremated and that was nearly £300. It's a horrible thing to have to think about. I hope yours is around for a while yet.

We all know its more but apparently they seem shocked by this 21bn fraud....Maybe they just chose to ignore the other 200 billion 'lost' during Covid and Brexit preparations.

It's the tip of the iceberg but you can't put all the blame on the Government. They approved the money but didn't administer the schemes . .The civil Servants who handed out the money didn't do even the most minimal checks like bank references, whether the companies were registered with HMRC and companies House etc. This is just fundamental incompetence whatever the circumstances

Yes, this from the party that often complains that other political parties 'Throw money at problems'. The bastards are all deleting 'Tory' and 'Conservative' from their profiles and using green instead of true blue backgrounds to confuse English voters (not fucking difficult)...how much longer do we have to put up with these lying charlatans.
