Ready meals ? so what’s in them ? Now we have a very fussy cat, but if we have a normal home roasted chicken, ( I know everyone here doesn’t eat meat, but I do in moderation) our cat is very keen on any scraps from it. But the other day , just for quickness, I bought a chicken roast dinner from Iceland, ( hmmm, that was a bland experience, the dinner, not Iceland ). I gave the cat, some of the so called chicken breast, one sniff, and she walked away, soooo, what is the so called “ chicken “?? i have also tried the roast beef dinner, same result, she walked away from the beef, and after one taste of it , so did I. anyone enjoy them?? i suppose I could try to make her a vegetarian, ( like a certain fox 🦊 )

Would think they use cheaper bits of meat in a ready meal. Some are quite nice thou. I did used to have them sometimes if i was too knackered to cook but after the horse meat scandal it put me off and now i always cook from scratch.

I only buy ready meals if they are stupid cheap, like 20p or so. Other than that I prefer to cook.

I do have the very odd fresh ready made pizza or cheese quiche, but even the best ready meals taste shit to me. I never buy them, I have eaten the odd one my brother buys, but other than filling me up, I cannot say I have ever enjoyed them.
I find McDonald’s or kfc much the same, As far as I am concerned they are all fake foods. A stir fry, Spag Bol or omelette from fresh takes so little effort or time to make they are done by the time the ready meal is cooked anyway. 1/4 the price, better for me and made from food I can recognise. Dog loves veggie spag Bol or a stir fry, so two birds with one stone.
last time I was back in the Uk I bought a cheap supermarket sausage roll, it was one of the most repuulsive smelling and tasting things I have ever tried, dog poo would taste better.

I tried supermarket ready meals once when they were reduced. Small portions, soggy or uncooked veg and all tasted shite. I do miss doing a roast with the trimmings but for one it's overindulgence nowadays.

next time you are tempted to buy a ready meal have a read of the contents, I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole, cheese quiche yes-occasionally in moderation but a ready meal- no way jose.

Had a dog who ate wood lice, chewed on bits of the sage bush, recycling his own and friends droppings were favourite too.
But do you think for one moment he would eat a stray marshmallow that dropped on the floor... Nope, just sniffed it once and flumped down next to it to watch it all evening with worry in his eyes. It was pink, not white..

Poundshop tinned pulled pork is nice, if a little mean on the pork to bbq sauce ratio.
