Hello from Joseph

Hi everyone,

My name is Joseph, I guess I am a hippy as it turns out, just never really thought about it before. I grew up and spent a lot of my early adult life with hippies, New Agers, far left folk singers, counterculturalists, people living alternative lifestyles, and I just became who I am by osmosis. These last 10 years though, I just forgot myself more and more. Rent, job, responsibilities, worries, the harrowing politics of this country, all the hatred in the air, climate anxiety... I became uptight, almost a complete wreck. I lost contact with almost all my friends and mentors from this worldview, and forced to live miles and miles away from them because of the cost of living and rent prices. I have no contact with hippies where I live now, and over the years became quite hollow.

Well I got to a crisis point, and thankfully a bit of my old self came back - just a spark to get things moving again. My hair is longer again (I cant even remember when or why I cut it, but was probably to get a job or something). I dug out my pendants, my crystals, my bracelets, starting yoga and meditation again, and even started a bit of wicca. I have tried to deepen my beliefs now, and explore them more. I'm not really a wiccan in the true sense, I just utilise the word to feel connected to the energies of the universe. I am re-connecting to my old passions for a utopian, money-less, communal new age, and after years of pleasing other people by keeping my progressive views quiet, am being unashamedly anti-fascist, paganistic and driven by earth mysteries and mother nature once again.

I am really happy to be here, and hope to make some good friends. I live in the Thurrock area of south Essex if anyone is from this way.
