The vape really helps/works, it's almost the same principle as smoking. You get a draw from it and blow out smoke, it also gives you something to do with your hands. It also allows me to control how much nicotine I'm getting. I'm already finding I'm using it a little less, not enough to be shouting about but a little. Plus it's cost me about 3 quid in two weeks, can't be bad

I'm in the glad I never started, camp. I've watched sommany folk, like yourself, Pyke, really struggling.
Hope it gets easier for you. If it's any consolation, my dad was told at 60 to stop, by his doctor, and he just threw away the fags in his pocket and never smoked again. My mum did similar. Both had been really heavy smokers from their teens, so it can be done.

I am quite certain that it was a change in my diet from margarine to butter and vegetable oil to dripping that did it fir me.

Well I'm still vaping and don't miss fags anymore, well occasionally but hardly ever. I'm turning down the power on the vape every few days or so and using it less every day So it won't be long before I'm onto the next strength down liquid. Maybe another 2 weeks till I change liquid strength.

Still of the fags, still vaping. Down to 6mg liquid now. There has been a few times in the last week or so I have thought of having a fag but puffed on the vape and the thoughts of smoking have vanished. The day Donk died was one of the times I really fancied a fag for about ten seconds. To quote Renton " With God's help I'll conquer this terrible affliction."

Nice one matey. If you went through Donk dying and didn't cave in, you're doing fine.

I started when I was 13,smoked periodically in my life, had breaks, started again....not a huge smoker, gave up 2 yrs ago.Yes Pyke I feel like a fag sometimes too.Just concentrate on your breathing when you get a fag urge,it soon passes.Better to be breathing in fresh air than baccy.Cigs are continually rising in costs,so thats another reason I gave up.Glad I did.Best of luck hon, you'll get there. Same here,I started at 13.Ive not smoked tobacco for 17 years but i enquired in the petrol station recently on the cost of a 30g pack of old holborn, more out of curiosity and gobsmacked at £11. I used to get 2 ounce (50g) pack for £3. No way i could afford to smoke regularly. If i didnt smoke Old Holborn rollies it would be Camel, Marlboro or untipped French Gauloise or Gitanes which i absolutely loved and think id still smoke one now if offered one...or Italian MS or Russian Belomorkanal I used to get given in exchange for B&H.They were like a cardboard tube with strong tobacco in the end and a bit of a acquired taste. I really detested most British cigarettes except Park Drive or Capstan.I used to smoke cigars and I had an old clay pipe for weekends lol. I stopped dead, went cold turkey but took well over 12 months before i stopped thinking about them and the rolling habit. Glad i did though,my lungs are pretty screwed, think id be up shit creak if id not given up.

Well done Pyke. There were no vapes when i gave up and i think vaping has probably eased a lot of people through the trauma of giving up tobacco.

Thats about £13 a pack isnt it...one way of getting people to give up but I think.both government and manufacturers cynically know many folk just cannot give up and would rather smoke than eat, so theyre both happy to exploit the situation.

Yeah just over £13,I was thinking earlier if everyone in the UK gave up,the taxes would have to come from somewhere else surely?

Turns out trying to insulate a van on a windy day is enough to drive me daft. I ended up sitting down and having a fag, half way thru it it got chucked. Tastes fucking bogging!!
